WTS statistics question
by parakeet indoes anyone know how the wts tallies the number of jws worldwide?
i ask because so many on this board and elsewhere, including me, have gradually faded away from the jws, have become "inactive" in wt terms.
are inactive jws included when the wts publishes the total number of jws worldwide?

Thanks, Blondie. I'm glad I "don't count" with the JWs any more, both figuratively and literally!

I ask because so many on this board and elsewhere, including me, have gradually faded away from the JWs, have become "inactive" in WT terms. Are inactive JWs included when the WTS publishes the total number of JWs worldwide? Or do the elders in the individual congs keep the Society informed about the active vs. inactive JWs? I'm asking because I wonder how trustworthy the WTS's published numbers for JWs are.

The only recurring nightmare I've had since leaving the org almost 30 years ago is the JWs dragging me back into the KH as I scream and claw and kick to get away. So, I guess I'd have to answer: NOT A CHANCE IN HELL!

"Will I be Saved"?
by Warlock inwhen i was about 12 years old, i used to see a religious show on sunday mornings called "amazing prophecies".
what the ministers name was, i don't remember.
at the end of the show, he asked those who wanted to be saved and have jesus come into their heart, to pray along with him, so i prayed along with him, because i wanted to be saved.. about 13 years later, i become a j.w.

***Well, I certainly don't consider myself "precious".***
Well, you should. You only have this life; if you're lucky, maybe 80 years of it. Make it count. Find out what makes your life worth living, then go out and live it. Let death take care of itself. -

Was the straw that broke the camels back, the workload?
by jambon1 ini realise that there are many reasons for people leaving the org and some are very sensitive and difficult to discuss.
but i was wondering how many people, if they really think about it, were finally broken by the sheer workload as a jw.
someone replied to my thread yesterday (page 2), and discussed the average week for most jw`s.

***Do you really think it dawns on them that the brothers workloads are just about breaking individuals? Do they even care?***
I think it's a deliberate tactic used by the WTS to keep believers from having time to think about or discuss their doubts. They WANT you to work till you drop--to them, a beaten-down, exhausted-to-death JW is better than a JW with time to check the internet.
Check any list of cult characteristics: "work em till they drop" is near the top. -

Were All God's Animals 'Good'
by Satanus inin genesis, god looks at all the animals that he created and he pronounces them good.
yet, the species that exist today are less than 1% of those that existed.
http://www.bagheera.com/inthewild/ext_background.htm were they 'bad' in god's eyes, practice for him?

jstalin: "Parasitic worms are particularly "good" of god to create."
And won't it be wonderful in the new order when children will have their very own parasitic worm to pet and play with? They can watch the parasitic worm cavort peacefully with the other animals and eat straw. Won't that be just grand? -

You must belong to the most liberal KH in the world, or else the elders there are senile. Much of what you describe as your beliefs, plus your presence on this board, would get you sailed out the KH's back door faster than a rocket anywhere else in the world. So I must conclude that you're not a dedicated, baptized JW. You sound like someone who joined the JWs because it's so out there; just another way to shock the friends and family. Grow up.

"Here is my question: If the end comes the way the Bible says it will, but we don't know exactly whose interpretation will be played out, am I saved no matter who turns out to be correct?"
Stop worrying about how to save your precious self. Stop living in fear of the future and live in the present. Your life is passing you by as you fret about how to survive a make-believe catastrophe.
Not living your life to its fullest--that's the real catastrophe. -

Why God refuses to interfere
by greendawn inmany people ask why doesn't god interefere to help suffering mankind?
biblically the answer is very simple: mankind exercise their freedom of choice and in so doing chose to be slaves to sin or the demons if you like.
god respects that choice however foolish it may be.

"Biblically the answer is very simple: mankind exercise their freedom of choice and in so doing chose to be slaves to sin or the demons if you like."
Earth to Greendawn: Instead of "very simple," the word you really mean is "simplistic."
Scenario: Bully has just insulted little boy's dad. Little boy's dad stands back and lets his kid get bloodied and broken by bully just to see if the kid really "loves" him.
By your logic, your "very simple" explanation makes sense only to inhabitants of bizarro world. Try some actual thinking about these doctrines before posting.
