  saturday, 19 december 2009. a jehovah's witness who refused a blood transfusion in hospital had a 98% chance of surviving the bleed that killed her - if she had been given the procedure, an inquest was told yesterday.

  grieving husband philip baxter said his wife anita (56) did not want to die but did not want a blood transfusion.. a coroner has called for hospitals to consider seeking a court ruling in similar contexts, where a patient refuses blood on religious grounds.. mrs baxter, of naas, co kildare, died of acute cardiac failure caused by blood problems in tallaght hospital on september 15, 2009. the jehovah's witness died five days after surgery to remove a tumour from her colon, after which she suffered significant bleeding.. surgeon diarmuid o'riordan told the inquest there was a 98% to 99% chance she would have survived if she was given the appropriate blood transfusion.. dublin county coroner's court heard yesterday that mrs baxter signed an informed consent form stating she didn't want blood, even as a life-saving measure.

  i remember sometime back when i was visiting my wife's kh, they sang a song from the song book that contained the words, present truth.

  i did a quick search on google to see what people on the internet were saying about this phrase.

  traditionally, the society avoids doing anything that might expose the reality of how much of a facade the whole thing is.

  they fear incidents that undermine their carefully crafted image of invunerability - and, indeed, the reality is much different.. beyond deceiving the witlesses in general, there is another reason for care because they must deceive themselves.

  they need the members to feel that armageddon is imminent, so i have a proposal for the gb members reading this forum.. .

  when the end failed to come in 1975, wts offered their explanation that eve was created some time after adam, and that some time passed before she and adam sinned.

  I Have a Theory - It Will Make The Society Tons of Cash

  i have long held theory that the society can easily cease it's printing operations and increase it's profit margins.

  follow this scenario.... as we all know, the printed word and accompanying illustrations in the wt and awake can be converted to pdf format (pdf is a format that can be locked so that the recipient cannot change the contents) upon the completion of each individual magazine.

  it would therefore be very easy for the society to email or to put up on a server the wt and awake for retrieval by the presiding overseer of each congregation.

  That might work in the North America, Europe and other places with widespread technology availability. But dubs in third-world nations might be hard-pressed to get their pubs this way and then have to make copies. In countries that are lumber-poor, the cost of copying would be prohibitive for most dubs.

  ok i have asked several of my friends and they have never heard of being chased by a committee before.

  so i am hoping someone has some insight.. .

  i'll give you background and yes i am not innocent in the situation but what i was raised to believe is being contradicted by the actions of the elders.. .

  edlewiese, you need to take the offensive. Contact a lawyer and have him/her send a letter to the elders similar to this one posted by Gayle a month ago. It made the elders run like little bunny rabbits.

  JW's a RELIGION based on PERFORMANCE! How dangerous is that???

  i have come to realize that this religion is based almost solely on performance and that is the most dangerous.. i always felt that as a person or jw (while an active witness)that i was always just as good as my last assignment, comment at the watchtower meeting, feild service report.. this left me with a huge identity crisis in the borgorg......... i really didn't know who the hell i was?.

  It's especially dangerous when dubs get old and sick. Because it's their "deeds" that define their faith, when they're forced to slow down, they are made to feel guilty.

  I've known dubs with chronic breathing problems who routinely expose themselves to the prevailing viral stew at meetings becase they feel compelled to attend. And stupid dubs with contagious illnesses also feel compelled to attend even though they knowingly spread their viruses around to their cherished brothers and sisters.

  "Gotta be at that meeting, cough-cough. Gotta get out in service, achoo! If "householders" and my fellow dubs get sick, too, that's tough. I've got to get my hours in. Jehovah's keeping tabs."

  Idiocy.
