Did you ever talk to an "apostate" years before you actually left JW's?

i remember years ago when i was on "fire" as a devout jw's a girl at the bus stop handed me a book crisis of conscience in 1981. i did not know what the book was all about and she told me that jw's was a "cult" and very satanic in nature.

she told me that i should leave the jw's if i wanted salvation in jesus christ.

she handed me some born-again christian tract and invited me to her church.

Sad to say, the apostates I encountered were aggressive and seemed very unhappy. Telling me the WT does not follow the bible was not convincing to me, since I saw no other religion follow and use the bible like the JW do (in Germany ppl are not as religiously active as they are compared with the US). I also looked at a long apostate video, but would find any small fault with it so as to not even consider the arguments made. It actually pushed me back deeper into the WT control.

Do I feel foolish? Yes I do. had I allowed the arguments to sink in the separation would have been earlier and easier and maybe even more effective in exposing “the truth”.

– The hypocrisy of the elders and the lack of love is what made me finally see and question things.

Today is Tuesday -its book study day. I think its great ‘darcy’ came here and I wish more active JW would come. She strikes me as being open-minded and very independent in her style, behaviour and choice of words (like “what the hell”). The WTS would do well with more of these. If she is happy as a JW I am happy for her. Don’t think she wants to get into any heated debates at this time and can respect that. It’s ok to come here just for the fun of it. If she wants to discuss something I’m sure she’ll let us know. Freetosee

I am quite new here too, and I think it’s great to look into the older publications no longer provided by the WTS. The WT frequently quotes old catholic or atheist printings and teachings, which I think anyone is free to do.

By the way, the new publications and “new light” is enthusiastically discussed here. And posters like “blondie” discuss the latest WT articles with much participation of others. Keep reading and you will find interesting discussions about the old and the very new development of WT teachings.

could anyone tell me about that blue book, shining as illuminators in the world, the pioneer book, does anyone know where you would get it online, in pdf, word, html format?

True, there is nothing special about the book, it’s just to make the holder of it feel special and privileged. Being a front-fighter of the truth you are very precious to Jehovah. At pio-meetings you’re told you are helping the elders in building up the congregation, you’re an example to the flock in becoming fine teachers in the ministry, etc. etc.

Many elder have a very secretive way about them, often it is quite unnecessary. I noticed that experienced or more intellectual elder are more confident in knowing how to use their internal knowledge towards the regular publishers.

where in the bible god choose the WT and the GB ?

tomorrow im going to see my jw friend we all the time argue about the cult and must of the time he have no answer, and i think he is not too happy with the cult (he is ms) he is 41yr old and married no children (was virgin 28yr wtf).

about two weeks ago he was called to the back room why?

because he had some misunderstanding with ex alder the claim he doesnt have love for him lololol.

so just to sum it up a bit, this girl caught her dad watching porn, told me about it and then talk about ways to get him to stop watching it.

apparently she never told the elders and apparently he stopped watching porn.

Hello Dune, much thanks for your update. I agree with what has been said, you did the right thing to do. The development is positive in that the mother and her daughter moved away from the molester. Your reporting to the police will enable them to proceed in the right way and ensure the family receives support and if necessary protection. I think in time the mother and her daughters will give you a big thank you. I am also happy the few indications so far show that this dark secret can no longer be covered neither continue. What a relief! The elders most likely will try to hide this form the congregation, but it’ll surly do some shaking.

Well done, your friend does not know what a great favour you have done her.

i wonder if the act of shunning someone you love actually strengthens your resolve that you're following the "right" course.

Sad to say I shunned every D’F person. Always thought this is one of the most difficult parts of being a JW. Believing it was the biblical and Christian thing to do I would be critical of those not following this cult policy. I feel particularly bad about shunning one young girl I grow up with. We were visiting her family in England (they learned the “truth” in Germany) and one evening she was standing outside the house waiting to see us. My whole family walked past her not looking at or greeting her. She started crying heavily and her brother ran out to hold her. –Today I know much more about her stupid father (elder) and feel very bad for shunning her. I whish I could find and meet her to tell her I’m very sorry. Freetosee

Thanks Leolaia, I listening to it just now. It’s amazing how they put all the WT interests, biases and fears into the drama and make the early Christians frequently use of the name ‘Jehovah’. They sound just like the ‘true Christians’ today.

Here are some of my notes:

Have a simple life and beware of higher education!
Don’t let peer pressure and material gain distract you!
Make yourself available to do more!
Jehovah will provide! Serve God (WTS) more fully!
The Paul (WTS) sees more in you then you do in yourself!
“Thanks to Jehovah I am rich; I have received the best education anyone can have!”
Don’t listen to family and friends!
Get a firm hold on the real life!?
This was the best part: Paul “a bitter old man alone with his thoughts, stubbornly clinging to the course he chose decades ago. It’s plain to see, Paul is out of touch with reality. Could it be that Paul promotes his personal idea? Paul admonished husbands and wives, yet what does a man with no wife nor children know about family responsibility? He teaches his own warped believes, not the commands of God!” (They are not talking about the GB are they?)
Beware of rebels who will eventually be put out of the congregation.

Thanks for the update. I’ve been looking into this thread all day. It’s great you gave her an ultimatum! The best is she calls the police herself, but it’s likely she wouldn’t after talking to the elders. So even if she tells you she did call them, YOU make sure to call them anyway. I know it might not be easy, but believe it is your duty and can only confirm the urgency of the matter.

I was shocked to find out that in some cases of molestation one daughter can become jealous of the other daughter as the feeling for the farther are very confused. Maybe she has been abused in the past and now the father is more interested in the younger girl. Whatever the case, you calling the cops is the only right way to deal with this problem and it is another reason for you to take the initiative.
