They would have assurance, yes. You're not meant to partake of the bread and wine unless you're certain you're anointed, if you have any doubt, they say you're not anointed. Being certain about selection (election?) would suggest assurance.
I don't think they've ever taught perseverance of the saints. The Anointed have perseverance/immortality as soon as they get to Heaven, they don't have to wait till the end of the thousand years. The Great Crowd have to wait till the end of the Thousand years before they are granted perseverance, so the Anointed have the advantage.

Questions about 144,000 and salvation: perseverance and assurance.
by My Struggle inawhile back i was trying to understand how the wtbts understood the salvation of the 144,000. when looking up articles it seemed on the surface to be similar to how many christians view salvation.
the similarities were in the standard christian doctrines of perseverance and assurance.
(i know that jw in general do not have assurance of their salvation, they believe that they cannot have salvation until they make it into paradise.

Spirit of Christmas - Christian versus non-Christian
by Cellist ina few days ago our neighbourhood had a group of christmas carolers go door to door.
they went to every door singing carols and leaving a plate of goodies.
they announced, between carols, that they were from the local baptist church.

I understand your viewpoint, but I agree with Burn.
Some Jehovah's Witnesses do preach because they care about people, but most of the ones I know do it simply because they have to. I've read many comments on this board, that once they were baptised the person studying with them stopped bothering with them because they could no longer get the hours from it. In that case I would suggest the hook was their own salvation.
Not knowing the Christians who knocked on your door Cellist, or what their Church teaches about the importance of evangelising, it's hard to say their real motive, they may genuinely want to help people, or preaching because they think they need to for their own salvation like many Jehovah's Witnesses do, but Christianity outside of the Watchtower doesn't usually demand you preach to gain salvation.
You can recognise they may have good intentions without having to accept their beliefs or their invitation. -

Four years late. Just watched Passions of the Christ. I have a question
by shopaholic inas you know this movie was banned for jws.
any faithful witness would not watched a non-jw bible movie (even though they do it all the time but that's a different subject.
) i watched it this pass week over a couple of days.

"How important is it, really, if it was a cross or a stake?"
It's not important. Not important at all. Jehovah's Witnesses make an issue about something nobody else cares about so they can use it as a way to say they are better than 'pagan' christendom. -

"So you agree with me! Believers are judgemental name callers! LOL"
Ha! :) They can be yes, can be, I don't like to generalise. I hope I'm not a judgemental name caller...
"In all seriousness, the tone I hear in many believer's posts IS judgemental. This in of itself makes me glad I'm on the other side."
I hear that tone in some posts too. I just happen to see it from both sides, and I also see posts from each side claiming the other side is judgemental/arrogant and then say they don't see it from their own side. The problem imo is, that often, each side doesn't seem to understand each other.
"Let's live an let live."
Ok. :) I should add that I don't find you judgemental or arrogant! -

If Adam did not sin, would humans have lived forever on earth?
by jwfacts inthe new testament talks consistently of a heavenly hope, not an earthly one and the idea that humans are to live forever on earth is not supported scripturally at all.. however, what would have happened if adam and eve had not sinned.
the watchtower likes to make the point that it is only sin that caused adam and eve to die.
romans 5:12 that is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.. what do christians believe regarding this scripture?

"What do Christians believe regarding this scripture?"
Be prepared for a wide array of views! :) What I find most interesting are the infralapsarian and supralapsarian views, that 'the fall' was planned by God. (Both views linked to predestination)
Contrary to the Society's viewpoint that perfection gave them eternal life, the text in Genesis never mentions perfection or imperfection, I'm not even sure it mentions eternal life, though I think living forever was inferred by the 'tree of life' which they lost access to when they got kicked out of the Garden of Eden. Some Jehovah's Witnesses have speculated people will gain access to 'trees of life' in the New Order, which would allow them to live forever, but I don't think that's a Society viewpoint? -

"The difference between non-believer posts and believer posts is that generally: the non-believer posts are FYI and the believer posts are "this is the right way to think and the rest of you are awful people". Just my observation on the matter."
You would think that, you're a non-believer!
I find it amusing you say this, as I've read recent posts from believers calling non-believers arrogant, and intolerant. My observations have led me to think there's far less difference between the non-believer's and believer's approach to debate than each side seems to think there is (generally!) -

"And of course the fact that they had the backing of the greatest
personage in the universe… they couldn't go wrong."
And yet, they released the first edition of the NWT in the 1950s, and released another edition, WITH CHANGES, in 1984. Must have gone wrong! -

What's the big deal with 2014?
by inkling inwhy do so many people here attach any significance to the year 2014,. or more accurately, think that current jws will?.
when the year 2014 rolls around, and still no end of the world, why.
should anyone, including the witnesses, care?.

I don't think it will be an issue. The 7th day adventists, a bigger religion than the Jehovah's Witnesses, have 1844 as the starting date of Jesus' presence. They still seem to have little problem with it 163 years later.

Andre,
I'm not Catholic, but am also a Christian ('protestant' I guess) I'm happy you found a denomination that makes you happy! :) Catholicism is definitely nothing like the Jehovah's Witnesses, it's certainly not a cult! -

"Men are easier to control in groups so leaders prefer them over females."
Really? The majority of cult members tend to be female?
