I like the Queen, she seems like a friendly woman. How do you find the small island thing LT? On my small island, rarely a day goes by where I don't see a JW, and I think I'm the only apostate here. This can make island life a bit sucky at times, I feel starved of apostate conversation. I can only remember one visit by the Queen as well.

A few questions for the Brits
by sir82 ini saw the movie "the queen" a few days ago, and was wondering how accurate the portrayals were of some of the things in the movie, such as:.
-- in at least one scene, tony blair is shown in the back seat of a car being driven down a highway, with his secretary at his side.
it appears that there is normal, regular traffic going down the road along with him.

To be honest, I've been thinking of retiring the ferret, I get more PMs about the ferret than I get about me. Maybe then people will focus on the quality of my posts rather than a comical picture. Actually, I may have just spotted the problem here.

If science could let you live forever, would you take it?
by Paralipomenon inan ethical question for theists.
if science started to make some progress in extending our lifespan and eventually made a breakthrough that halted the aging process, even able to reverse it.
would you accept such a treatment, or allow yourself to grow old and die to take a chance at an afterlife.

As a theist, I think I would take the risk and go for the afterlife. A few months ago I would have taken it for sure, but now that my hope lies in being with God, if I was to live forever, knowing I could never reach him would be hell for me!
If I'm wrong, and there's no afterlife, but the dead are conscious of nothing at all, then I'm never gonna find out, so a wrong choice won't affect me! -

Welcome to the board tapout!
'Was (is) it part of mind/group control? What the heck??? I'm always feeling guilty about one thing or the other... it just won't let me be.'
Yes, it is the mind control, and most people have struggled with it, it's nothing to worry about, it's normal for ex-JWs.
I think you'll find most people here believe a lot of JWs are, individually, good people, it's the Organisation itself they have the problem with, the Organisation has caused a lot of hurt.
You've come to the right place tapout, perhaps you should stick around, as this place has helped a lot of people to deal with those feelings of guilt. -

More On Pharisees
by FireNBandits in"pharisee" is one of those nt words that english translators of the bible, beginning with wycliffe, decided to transliterate rather than translate, just as they did "baptism" and "apostle" and other words.
given the meaning of pharisee i can only conclude that the reasoning behind this decision was to hide the meaning of the word.
to avoid stepping on the toes of the pharisees of their own time.

Oh crap,....reading What does the Bible Really Teach? can't stomach it

" filth and i'm trying to read it.

Jeremiah,
Have you noticed they don't even mention the FDS doctrine once in the whole book? It's their most important doctrine, and yet there's nothing in there about submitting to them and having to agree with everything they say, or God having an Organisation. I wonder if that could be worth mentioning? -

Ask the question very dramatically: Would a god of love murder 99.89% of the total population? Have a long long pause and then just walk off the stage.
Perhaps I should go for: Would a god of love murder 99.89% of the total population for disagreeing with us?
DJK: I'll try not too!
AO: You have been great, as for Cola cubes, how I'd fit that in to the talk is beyond me!

It seems that you have caught my purple text disease. Could that be one of the plagues of Revelation?
Lol! I couldn't work out how to get rid of it.
I think I'll do mostly a WT approved item, so I don't make anything too obvious, but throw in a few random lines, to make it clear that Armageddon involves the destruction of 6 billion non-witnesses, but I'll seriously consider anything you might find!
The talk is next Tuesday.
