I'm always skeptical of people who don't like children.
I've never met someone who didn't like children and wasn't selfish.

Something that bugs me
by Junction-Guy init bothers me when people who dont even believe in the bible try to use scriptures against me.
for example this woman at work, hates all christianity (except jw's), is agnostic, doesnt believe in the bible.
whenever i mention something about the jw's she says "remember, judge not, lest you be judged" that just irks the living daylights out of me.

Is the Watchtower happy being stagnant?
by RULES & REGULATIONS instagnant.
adj.not moving or flowing; motionless.
foul or stale from standing: stagnant ponds.showing little or no sign of activity or advancement; not developing or progressing; inactive: a stagnant economy the sunday talks are copy and paste .the watchtower study is the same.ask the preprinted questions and answer.the ministry school is reading the same parts of the bible.the service program has the same dull presentations.the book study has some books being read 3 - 4 times.. is the watchtower society happy with being stagnant and just going thru the motions?

I don't know if they're happy about being stagnant, I think it has more to do with them being afraid of change.

Could you REALLY be an apostate unless
by avidbiblereader inyou are of the anointed class?.
hebrews 6:4-6 4for it is impossible as regards those who have once for all been enlightened, and who have tasted the heavenly free gift, and who have become partakers of holy spirit,5and who have tasted the fine word of god and powers of the coming system of things,6but who have fallen away, to revive them again to repentance, because they impale the son of god afresh for themselves and expose him to public shame.. nothing mentioned according to the scriptures of the gc or other sheep doing this,.

Don't be silly abr, this is God's Organisation we're talking about, and this means that it can apply whatever it wants to anyone, as long as it supports their dogma.

Do JWs know who the king of the north is?
by cultswatter ini think they used to believe that germany was the kng of the north.
what is their official take on that.
btw does the rev grand climax book talk about that ?.
-
Zico
The funny thing about the King of the North speculation, is that very, very few JWs understand their own doctrine, apparently even that Ciro guy doesn't understand it. If you read their Daniel's prophecy book, their eisegisical commentary on the book of Daniel, you'll find that they expect the last King of the North to have an alliance with the King of the South (Anglo-America) The King of the North will then convince Anglo-America to ban religion. Anglo-America agrees to do so, and then gives the King of the North the power to do so. All religions give into the North, except the Jehovah's Witnesses of course! Then they attack the Witnesses, Jehovah brings Armageddon etc... etc... The Daniel's Prophecy book never mentions anything about an attack on the King of the South, so the Muslim Nations certainly don't fit. (Especially since there is no way that they're going to want to ban religion)

Two Classes?
by VanillaMocha73 inso i am going through the bible from a christian perspective this time and then going back to the reasoning book to figure out how on earth the jws ever came up with the stuff they did.
it is not like i am a n00bi3 - i was raised jw, pioneered, went to pio school, studied diligently for years, zealous, etc.. .
where do they come up with the two classes - one going to heaven and one not?
-
Zico
You're not dense. I have no idea how they came up with two classes, but it's definitely not in the bible!
'The scripture that the great crowd are before the lamb and not on mount zion, therefore they must not be in same place.'
Revelation 7:9:
9 After these things I saw, and, look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands.
I like the way they say being the throne and lamb means they can't be in heaven, as those in heaven are around the throne and lamb, not before it, however, go forward JUST TWO verses:
11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell upon their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
The angels fell BEFORE the throne as well! Also compare Revelation 5:8:
8 And when he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp and golden bowls that were full of incense, and the [incense] means the prayers of the holy ones.
Again, the 24 elders, which the WT teaches is the same as the 144,000, falling BEFORE the lamb.
And, then there's Revelation 19:1, the biggest evidence of all:
1 After these things I heard what was as a loud voice of a great crowd in heaven.
Where is the great crowd? You're not dense, whoever came up with the great crowd on Earth is certainly dense though. -

Your Mum's right that the Organisation has always been an NGO, and is still an NGO, because any Organisation that isn't a government is a NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) They didn't become an NGO because they joined the UN, but that's not the issue here.
They did however, became an affiliate of the United Nations, a political Organisation that they demonise. They have criticised other religions for joining up with the UN, and so for them to then do the same is very hypocritical. -

Slim, Dave Algarve visits our Congregation regularly, where he stays with his sister-in-law. (Wife of the PO) Less than 6 months ago he gave some Public talks in a few Congregations here, and my Dad took him out on his boat. He's definitely alive, and I have never heard that rumour about his son either, which I'm sure I would know. I always found Dave a bit... slimy as well. He was a good speaker though, he gave my Baptism talk actually.

Hi Bernadette,
I don't know if David Sibrey did Circuit Work, but he is in Bethel now, he was the main speaker at our Convention last year, and he was a good speaker. He's also wrote some articles for the Awake. I was disappointed when I seen him during one of the breaks and went to speak to him as he clearly wasn't interested in me, especially as I was still trying to convince myself it was 'The Truth' at the time despite mounting doubts. LT, are you sure it's Dave Algar, and not AlgarVE?
