  Storys about demons and how they react to JWs - What do You think?

  i dont believe much of the societys teachings anymore.

  but theres one thing that i carried with me all my life:

  when everything is false, what is about those stories about demons, seances and all that stuff that is out in the world?

  Articles "a" "an" "the"

  can anyone tell me whether the usage of such articles can be found in the original hebrew or greek writing of the scriptures?.

  in this week's book study, the society attempts to distinguish jesus "the first and the last" (rev 1:18) from jehovah "i am the first and i am the last" (isaiah 44:6).

  the basis for such a distinction, according to the society is that isaiah quote lacks definite articles before the words "first" and "last".

  The poor guy is just looking for a little fun...

  Moon him once in a while..that will kill the "sour grapes"..

  LOL! Yeah, right. Why should I moon him, Snoozy? He's got online porn that he peruses daily. I know this because of all the T&A emails I get in MY inbox, including offers for penis enhancements, etc.

  I don't claim to know everything you know, but take it from a 17 year old computer geek: Getting porn and penis enlargement emails DOES NOT mean he was looking up pornography, if you have an uncomplicated email address there are companies that send this stuff out all the time to simple addresses.

  Even if your email address is complicated if you enter it ANYWHERE, whether it's a porn site, humour site, music site, game site, or any other site, they can SELL your email address to different companies for a cheap buck, therefore sticking you with the crap emails... So maybe he is, and maybe he isn't viewing pornography, but emails like that prove absolutely nothing.

  In my opinion emails like that should be illegal... lots of people get ticked off at their mates because of misunderstanding like that.

  High school anti-cult lessons

  i've been asked to help develop a course for high school students to teach them about destructive cults and how to identify them.

  not jw-bashing) to be useful for all students (and also not to frighten off jw kids and their parents), i would hope it might help jws (kids and parents) to start to think.

  does anyone know of anything similar that we could buy in?

  I guess possibly the most work will be finding (or tailoring) material suitable for the intended audience (14 to 16-year-olds) and keep things pretty simple.

  16 year olds are smarter than you may think... I was 15 when I first had doubts and 16 when I totally realised that JWs were a cult.

  Make sure you emphasize the fact that any group who demands that you can't even listen to the opposing opinion is probably a cult... just like JWs . That realization is what got me to come to this site.

  Well, the site didn't prove that Jesus is imaginary, but wow, it most certainly proved that Jesus is not a circus monkey who will come and perform at our every whim.

  Acctualy it proved that he used too do just that, and that he promised to do so for us, it's your job to prove whether or not he'll come through.

  Hypothetical situation: What would you do?

  lets just say that the jw teaching regarding armageddon, living forever were true.. and lets say that many on this forum who still attend meetings somehow survive.. you don't agree with the teachings.

  you may not even like many others who survive.

  why would you want to live with the kind of people who continually judge others actions?

  A long time ago... like my 30th post or so, I gave my opinion:

  I am becoming an atheist so the way I see it there are 4 main possibilities.

  Option 1: They are wrong and I am an atheist. Result: I will live a normal life, meet nice friends who don't care about my religion, maybe have exiting adventures, watch the movies I like, spend Sundays Thursdays and Tuesdays doing something fun or usefull, have sex, play Final Fantasy, donate blood just for the heck of it, and then die, hopefully happy. That's it.

  Option 2: They are right and I am an atheist. Result: Result: I will live a normal life, meet nice friends who don't care about my religion, maybe have exiting adventures, watch the movies I like, spend Sundays Thursdays and Tuesdays doing something fun or usefull, have sex, play Final Fantasy, donate blood just for the heck of it, and then die, hopefully happy. That's it. OR I will live a normal life for a while and then die in armageddon, if it happens to come in my lifetime. Which is very unlikly.

  Option 3: They are right and I am a witness. Result: I will live a horrible life untill the end. Then I will live in paradise under the direction of a god who just killed my grandparents. I will live forever gardening and enjoying nature... No TV or video games. No cars, computers, meat, soda, varying ideas, or pretty much anything a modern human enjoys.

  4: They are wrong and I am a witness. Result: I will live a horrible life, trying to convert unbelievers, every single day wondering when the end will come, getting old, or worse yet dying from an accident because I can't take blood. Laying in a hospital bed in misery thinking of myself in paradise, instead of my family who will probably have turned apostate years ago, and I will have shunned for years. Then I'll die and the ones who knew me won't even mourn my death because they mistakenly believe they'll see me again... Plus I was a boring human anyway.

  So in conclusion... I am completely convinced they are wrong... But even if they're right I don't want any part of it.

  I now add hypothetical option 5: I'm an atheist but I survive anyways because god is to dumb * to notice I'm just faking it. I will live in paradise under the direction of a god who just killed my grandparents. I will live forever gardening and enjoying nature... No TV or video games. No cars, computers, meat, soda, varying ideas, or pretty much anything a modern human enjoys. I'll eventualy decide that I hate this, and I don't even like the god I'm serving... at the end of the thousand years I'll join satan and the demons in the rebellion # and either die as a martyr, or succeed in turning the rest of the bored population against their deadbeat deity.

  Who needs truth? What's wrong with the 'makes sense' theory? If it makes sense believe it, if something new comes along and it stops making sense then don't believe it anymore... it's easy to be open minded when you don't insist you have the ultimate truth.

  I think you made a good decision to lay low for a while. I reccomend looking up something wrong with the witnesses and becoming an expert on it while you wait. Like the 607/587 thing, or the UN thing, failed watchtower prophecies and stuff like that, something that your parents will have to acctually RESEARCH instead of quoting hackneyed watchtower phrases. That way the next time you fall out, you'll be the one with all the research and they'll have nothing, since these are all things that the society doesn't like to write about.

  Round 2 disastor

  Oh boy... this is all happening way to fast. You NEED time to prepare yourself.

  Do you know ANYBODY who is not a witness? Personally I have my grandparents to fall back on for love and help if I my parents shun me. Are your grandparents close? They're not JWs too are they? (I also was homeschooled and therefore know what it's like to not have any friends I can count on.)

  How far are you from being able to support yourself? Cause once you reach that point, the only thing at stake is your emotions.

  Like RAF said, if you need time, then by all means, GIVE YOURSELF TIME! Nobody will think less of you for it... it's not a matter of honor, it's your life, do everything in your power to make your life better.

  We're all rooting for you.

  must have been in the back of my mind when i went to sleep.. i was dreaming that this ugly demon with a pointy hairy chin was after me.

  Well one time I had this dream that a big tough looking angel came to execute me at night. So I yelled "SATAN! HELP ME!" then I woke up....
