My son made me proud the other day.

my eldest son (19 in oct') went for coffee he other day with a former associate of his who is still a jw.

the conversation eventually came around to spiritual things and his friend, matt, started firing the questions.

how he felt about the faith, would he go back, did he still believe?.....

I am so glad that your son is not excepting thing at face value. That is so great. It is always a good thing to ask questions. Continue questioning thing!

But you know what? This is one of those subjects that actually make sense to me. I don't conside it JW' doctrine. But part of the bible. My take on this is, and you certainly don't have to agree with me is as followed.

Let's say God zaps Satan, Adam and Eve. So there is no one to question the fact that we can't make it without God. Then what happens if he makes two more people and they start saying, "No I don't want to do it your way. I want to find out if I can do it on my own." Does god zap them and so forth and so on. I know it sounds unfair to have satans influences. But I don't want to serve a god that won't allow us a second chance. Or even the chance to find out if we can make it on our own.

Hey we all came from a religion that says,"Do it my way or else." Well none of us liked that very much, that's why we are here. So a God that rules so we can't make decisions for ourselves, doesn't sound any better. That's the way I look at. But like I sayed that only my take on it. Doesn't make it right.

shine a laser pen on the outline given by the speaker at an assembly.. take notes in finger paint.. at sensitive moments, blow your nose raucously.

apologize for your sinus condition.. wear a disposable paper face mask.

tell the brothers: hey, you don't want to catch what i've got!.

I was so angry when I saw that the mirrors were covered. So I askeed someone about it and they told me just what you had said. So I couldn't stand it. I started bugging her about about it, and then I started what "if"ing. "Well what if I have something in my eye?" "What if I can't get it out?" I found myself starting to rub my eye and next thing I knew.....I had something in my eye. They had to peel off a corner and let me wash my eye out. Then for the rest of the day I had the uncontrollable giggles. People behind me were worried I was crying. My eye was all red and now it looks like I am making crying motions. Of course the more people try and console me the more I laugh. I can't remember having such a good time at a convention.

Here is another one. I was at a Book study and I had to fart so bad I couldn't breath. I leaned over to get up to use the bathroom and that was all the pressure it needed. FFFFUUFFFF! I once again began to laugh and so did most everyone else. Afterwards a sister concelled me on my manners. "I can't believe you just raised up and releived yourself." I told her next time I would let HER pull my finger.

Oh I would also get in trouble for drawing. I love to draw, and I am not to bad. But sometimes I would forget where I was. So here I am drawing a man, not paying that much attention to what I am doing. Okay, so he was naked. As I start to work my way down, my husband looks at me funny. I look back and mouth "What?" He kind of nodds for me to look back. I do and what I see is ROWS of women looking over there bibles and checking out my drawing. Some in discust, some in disbelief, but some just lost in the moment.

vent time....friends who steal

okay i need to vent, i have a good friend who steals, i'll call her tina.

she is not poor, still lives with her parents who spoil her rotten, they buy her anything and ask for nothing in return.

she has had one job i think and didn't like it so she told the manager off and quit after maybe a month...it was at a video store for f's sake!

The way I look at it is. You got to find out this person wasn't your friend and it only cost you the price of a shirt! You got of lucky. I have spent 15 years with Women who I thought were my friends, till you need them and BAM, guess what they are NOT your friend. But if you insist on trying to make this person a friend. (that I don't know why) Then I would do the following. Get all your friends together at one time to confront her. Go to her sit her down lovingly and tell her how concerned you are about her behavior and lack of care for her friends. Try to get her to confess and get some mental help. It sure sounds like she needs it. If she refuses then let her know party time is over. Between her and all the others. But at any time if she would like to have someone to talk to, you are there for her. But nothing else. Especially to have her over, go out with ..etc.

I don't live in OC now but I grew up there from 1960 to 1983. So I am an Ex Californian. But I would be curios if we know any of the same people.

Let me know if you were even alive during that time frame.

multi language kids

i am taking care of two of my grandchildren this week, while their parents are at a business seminar.. today when i took them to school, a large group of kids got off of a school bus and were chatting away in spanish.

then some other kids walked past talking in an eastern european language, i think.

some others were talking another language i didn't recognize.

Here is some bit of trivia for all you from the US. Although English is the common language, there is no official language in the USA. Interesting?

My feel is we should be tolerent of all languages and cultures because that is what being American is about. We all have come from somewhere else. That is unless you are Cherokee! So learn all you can.

When I was seven my parents and I traveled with a singing group from all around the world. I could make small talk in about 15 different languages. I wish I had kept up with it. But now I have almost forgoten everything.

Now I am trying to learn Spanish, because my inlaws are from Puerto Rico. And although they do speak english I miss alot of there conversations. (Basically I want to know when they are talking about me behind my back) lol.

So be sure and have the kids make the best of that experience. I do miss speaking and learning so many different cultures.

my son, just recently coming back into my life, told me he had his done,,,,and i was wondering,,any here know of theirs, and how it might have affected their lives, their outlook, etc.

I don't know mine, but I would be interested. I am dislectic if that is spelled right and always had a hard time in school.

But my son did have an IQ test after I forced the school to do it. I will explain. My son has ADHD and OCD and at 10 was having a heck of a time in school. We couldn't find the right medication and he was literally bouncing of the walls. So they insisted on putting him in the ESE class. Which is for Mentally handicaped children. Also they have a closet that they would put the kids in if they got out of hand. I swear to god! This was 3 years ago. Scarry.

Well my son was not learning a thing and was spending most of the day trying not to get hit by other children in the class and was terrible sad and knew he didn't belong. So I told the school he would stay in that class ONLY if you tested him and found that his IQ was below normal.

They came back to me in a week with there tail between there legs. His overall IQ was 165 and his math was 195. Which explain his OCD. He was trying to pay attention in class and at the same time count every word that is coming out of the teachers mouth. And it would have to be even. If not he would then add on the next sentence and so on.

Good news is we now have him on the right medication and as long as he gets it, he is fine. But if he forgets his meds......He will drive everyone around him completely insane. He now does well in school, but does get bored quickly.

First mention of the Catholic Church

as i am completing a paper for brci, i found something quite interesting.

the very first mention of the "catholic church" was made in the year 107, in st. ignatius letter to the smyrnaeans.

st. ignatius was bishop of antioch for forty-years, being appointed by the apostle peter.

I have a few questions maybe you have come across in your studies. From what I have learned the Catholic Church became a orgainized religion about 300 years after christ? I hope I got that one right. This is Interesting to se that it was named but not a official religion much earlier. From what you are saying, this faith some 100 odd years after christ was similar to what the Catholic church is today. Are you saying them that the way the early christians worshiped after christ death was most simular to the Catholic church? If so can you give me examples. Such as did they have closed confession (rather than face to face), unmarried priests, relics of worship, worship of saints and or Mary, communion on a weekly basis, did they call themselves father and were there Nuns?

I had always thoght that many of the customes of the Catholic Church were brought in over the years. And most likely the church was different in it's first years in comparision to what it is today. But I have no evidence to back that up.

So here is my questions again. Is the Catholic church the same today as it was in its early years. And did the early christian prior to the Catholic church have any worship simular to the Catholic church of today. And how so.

(See I am not stupid if I can get you to do my homework for me). Which reminds me what information would you recomend reading on this subject?

Anyone here thinking of seperating or other major life change?

right now i am in a bit of a turning point in my world and was wondering if anyone else is there or had been there and would like to chit chat.

i guess i am feeling that if these difficult decision and transitions are shared with others that understand they might be a bit easier to live through.

Wow can I relate to some of your stories. I left my husband Over three years ago and it was the best thing I have ever done. We were together 23 years and I was very unhappy. Daystar I have panic attack and I am terrified of being alone. The ways I combat my problem is One working long hours, Two staying bussy and Three staying focused. It's like when I am alone that little voice in my head takes over and I spiral down hill. I keep the TV on even if I am not watching it. If I feel I am starting to loose it I try to focus on something. I have called Suicide Hotline and told them I am fine I just need to talk to someone. It sometimes help. Or I take a hot bath. The worst thing for me is to drink or stay in bed. I must remain active.

I have started a new adventure in my life. I just got Married. He is a wonderful man and is very understanding. He also pushes me to not give in to my problems. He makes me get up and get out of the house. Which at times can be hard. One night I was having a panic attack and I woke him up at 3am. He was very tired but he got up and to my surprise got dressed and took me to the beach. After a long walk I was okay again. He doesn't always understand what I feel, but he does except it. I feel very lucky to have him.

I got one for you. A girl tells her mother that her father is molesting her. Her mother doesn't believe her. Not to mention the two witness law. So she punishes her for it. SO it continues. Finally at 16 she runs away and has nothing to do with her family.

Wait it gets better. A few years later her son get arrested for child molestation. Molesting a neibor child he is babysitting. When his mother asks him why he would do such a thing he tell her. "Daddy showed me how." He was watching his father rape his sister.

Now ready......The father has had no charges posted and the wife still is with him. Oh and they still have not apologized to there daughter.

Unbelievable!!!!!
