The most strangest sounds I ever heard ........

i had an experience last night which was the strangest thing i have heard / felt for years ............. i had shared a bottle of white wine with my wife (i know that "tunes down" the whole thing, but man!

half a bottle of wine produces nothing like that ....), she went upstairs to go to bed, it was 10:45 at night, and i let the dog out in the garden for her usual you-know-what.

25 metres away is a small road, there are houses around, and 50 metres down to my left another small road departs.. i had been out 10 seconds, when suddenly very loud noices were all around, like - please don't laugh - santa claus with his sleigh came down the road, like sleigh bells sort of, but much louder and more distinct.

I would say to pay real good attention to news coverage in your area. A few years ago I saw, but did not hear, a phenomenan (sp) that I could not explain but a couple of years later it was in the news....exactly how I remembered my "experience", and 3,000 miles away.

WT does NOT own "Military Stock"

i thought this deserved its own thread...below is a reply a made to one of the previous threads ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=24473&site=3 ) and i am anxious for someone to refute it...or maybe i'm right.. not quite...it seems everyone is muddling the details on this.. it seems that james mccann, who donated the stocks to the wt, invented an improved rotary engine called a rand cam engine.

his company, the rand cam engine corp is a privately held company, but he has donated 50% of the stock to the wt (but retained the voting proxy so the wt has no say in what is going on), he owns 34% and the balance is owned by several shareholders.

this company is half owner of another company called rand energy group.

First off I want to say that this is kind of a hard thread to respond to. Very confusing, with people wanting to argue and name call. Finding it very hard to follow along and get some sense of what is really going on.

But I will respond with what feels right in my heart to the Organism having ANY ties to ANY military factions. To me it doesn't matter if the stock was given, or they bought them, or even if they have a voting proxy or not. What matters to me is that they own any stock at all and are profiting at any level from what they have preached for years to the r&f NOT TO DO.

Let me take this a bit further. My father was a loyal GE (General Electric) employee for many years. He even had a great retirement in store for him as long as he continued working for them. He could have been ok when he retired. I'm not sure who the sources were or where they got their information, but from my memory it seemed like it was a "rumor" that GE had some sort of connection to the military. When this was presented to my father, it appeared by what he (an elder) said, that my dad should quit GE and find another way to support the family. Being the loyal dub, he did just that. Now my dad is 67 years old and while they are not poor, due to other circumstances that did not go over well by the elders, my parents are doing ok. They are not rich by any means but at the moment they are doing ok. They will not be ok in about 4 years. But they would have been much better off staying with GE. All this because of what the organism wanted to enforce with the r&f. For them to own even less than 1% of this is disgusting to me. Hypocritical. It is a case of "do as I (we) say not as I (we) do."

How did I get away with it??

the more i read on this board, the more it makes me wonder how on earth i managed to escape the jw's without being df'd.

i was baptized in 1990 aged 15. i was df'd in 1991 and was reinstated after only 2 months 'out' and a further 3 months of returning to the meetings.. two years after being reinstated, i knew i wanted out but couldn't bear the thought of being df'd again.

so i found a flat to rent and moved out of my jw parents home.

mouthy, you hit the nail right square on the head. I know from personal experience that if you are an elder's child you get nothing. nada, zip as far as public discipline. Second in line are the children of ministerial servants.

Memorial - Suburban, PA Style

okay.. for the second straight year, the p.o.

of my congregation had 'we thank you, jehovah' playing faintly in the background while the emblems were being rejected...er...passed around.. does anyone else know of someone who delivers (delivered) the memorial talk who adds (added) their own tradition into the mix?.

oh, i almost forgot...a young girl (a little over one year old) attended her first memorial.

It's funny but I always thought it was kind of strange that the one that says a prayer says amen. Amen means to be in agreement. To me it is obvious that the brothers who say the prayer are in total agreement with what they say, even if it is the same ol' same ol' prayer said at every meeting and before meals. But that is another story, haha.

I think I need to come to maurgen's defense here. I remember when I first found this site, I sat and read every post that was available to read. It takes some time to get used to how this board is run and in the beginning you want to catch all the info you can and the last thing you tend to look at is the date. It is the thread you are paying attention to.

Depression

since leaving the organism i have had a problem with emotional situations.

i have bee labeled "bp", for those that don't know what bp is.....it is bi-polar.

what i am finding is that anyone that shows a behavior that is not in the norm....they are labeled bp.. we are given lithium and a meriad of other me's to correct this "condition".

What I am finding is that anyone that shows a behavior that is not in the norm....they are labeled BP.

We are given Lithium and a meriad of other me's to correct this "condition". I think they need to explore more what causes a situation and "put more labels" on us.

I was labeled Bi-Polar but I don't think that is what I have. I think I have been subjected to what the norm may be. What the psychological arenas do not understand is that there are people out there that need more help than others.

In other words....because of the recent events in this message board....I am considering...........you know........I don't see a generalization of support. I see the same thing I saw while I was within the "organism". Nothing has changed. What I see here is a bunch of people wanting to be right no matter what.

Well guess what?........I NEED TO HAVE A POSITIVE FORUM TO GET OVER THIS SHIT. I NEED TO HAVE POSTITIVE REASSURANCE THAT WHAT I AM DOING IS RIGHT.

OPtherwise, life is nil.
