Armageddon is just around the corner
I think it's a roundabout!
greetings group.
i was just reading over some old literature and found some amazing quotes made by the watchtower; i think my head really hurts now.
i thought i would post this last one to see if you could get through it without getting a headache.

sycophant n. a self serving servile flatterer.
you may remember that the watchtower society claimed that they dumped printing half the awake issues to .
put more emphasis on the bible.
however most mags over here - the women's mags at least have a page devoted to comments from readers where readers write in and say they were moved/hated/loved/laughed at articles in previous issues and the best letter gets a prize.
That is correct, my wife's fav. woman mag has at least 1 page dedicated to that....BUT..it is also 190+ pages long and the letters sent are usually a fair mixture of praise and criticism.
.
as they quote from nature etc,one wonder what magazines the wt subscribes to.
The first time I visited NY Bethel a friend took me up to the library at the top of the 90 Sands building. They had every magazine imaginable up there. For some reason Sports Illisustrated stuck in my mind though.
i need some serious advice.
i just found out my wife has been emailing some guy she met at her work.
she gave him her cell # and said she wanted to get together and connect.
What made me suspect is we were getting emails from myspace saying she had new myspace messages from her brother's friend. I don't know her brother's friend very well so I thought it was odd they were emailing each other so much. So I checked her myspace email account. Turns out the messages between her and her bro's friend were totally benign, nothing to worry about, but I found these other messages from this guy she works with.

We are both young, mid 20's. She was really upset with me 8 mo's ago when i told her I didn't believe the "truth" anymore. We have 2 young kids together and I truly love her so, Yes, saving my marriage is very important to me. WC, while I appreciate your advice and would do it if I knew she was cheating the fact is I don't know whats going on. She only first emailed this guy 2 days ago but she has twice asked to connect with him and I think she has called him or text messaged him.

I need some serious advice. I just found out my wife has been emailing some guy she met at her work. She gave him her cell # and said she wanted to “get together” and “connect”. I found out about it because we have been getting emails saying she has new myspace messages. I knew she had a myspace account but never checked it out and didn’t know her password. I got curious so I had her password emailed to our home account. I checked it and saw these messages between her and this guy.
Here’s my question. Since the way I found out about it could be viewed as invading her privacy do I confront her about it now or wait until I have more evidence. My fear is that by waiting something more might happen and I’ll lose my wife. I really need some good advice.
i know this has been mentioned before, but i'd like to bring that question to the front again.
not only from a jw's perspective, but also from all other christians.. who lied to man and woman in the eden story?.
yahweh god says to men: 17 "nevertheless of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat, for on the day you eat of it you shall most surely die.
I think the assumption is supported by the fact that the serpent in Genesis does appear to be directly in philosophical opposition to Yahweh, much as Satan appears to be.
Yes, but the Good vs. Evil concept is present in all stories therefore you can’t make that claim simply because there is an evil opposition to God in the Adamic account. I’m no scholor, barely literate really, but it seems to me the mere mention of Satan in the bible isn’t until much later (many centuries). Making that assumption is saying “Satan is God’s nemesis so the Serpent must be Satan”. There is no way of knowing if “Satan” as he is understood in Revelation was even a concept at the time of Genesis.

also about the snake being the same person as Satan:"so the great dragon was cast out , the serpent of old, called the devil and satan, who deceives the whole world"......Rev 12:'9
That scripture is in Revelation which was written centuries later. The Genesis account does not specify the serpant was Satan therefore to say he was is simply an assumpition by the WT, the writer of Revelation and anyone else who makes that claim.
the other night during the announcements between the ministry school and service meeting there was a letter read.
i pretty much tuned out the whole thing but what did catch my ear was the request that $4.50 per publisher be contributed by each cong.
for whatever bogus committee the letter was dealing with (sorry i cant be more specific, i honestly dont remember what it was for).
I believe it is per month. The congregation as a whole is responsible for contributing, the amount is based on the # of publishers. T hey won’t be walking around to each pub. And asking for the $4.50 but I’m sure that as soon as the cong. checking account dwindles to near nothing they will have a local needs on “giving as much as possible to Jehoover and his earthly borganization.

I’ve heard these letters before where they demand a contribution amount per the number of publisher. What makes me sick, though, is how much witlesses brag about not “passing the plate” yet they read these letters where money is demanded and the amount is based on the number of publishers. The effect is the same as passing the plate because each witless present feels obligated to contribute his/her $4.50. Is this not hypocritical?
