If anyone does see a refutation of the tract, please do post it here, plus would love to see any ideas of articles on the publication for the local news media, I had limited success with the Lawrence Hughes blood issue in our local papers, now that this publication will be littering many neighborhoods, some truth on "the truth" may be good for people to hear!!!

Dubs out with kn37
by fullofdoubtnow ini just took the dog a walk, and saw 4 dubs at the top of our street, trying to place kn37.
this is, of course, the first official day of thecampaign, so i expext to see a few more of them than usual over the next few days, but it's not often i see them at this time of day (3:10pm when i spotted them).
they all know me, and when they saw me walking towards them with the dog, who does admittedly look a bit fearsome, being a pit bull/staffordshire bull terrier cross, they looked a little nervous, as if they thought i was going to set him on to them.

THE END IS NEAR
by Mary inwith all the ridiculous hype amongst the dubs about how this new tract is going to help bring about "the end", i thought it would be beneficial to highlight how often they've been crying that the sky is falling in the last 1/2 century:.
***w50 2/15 p. 54" stick to your work"*** now is the time to live and work as christians, especially now, for the final end is near.
*** the time of the end is near!

Welcome Amanda, you will find a lot of great information herein as well as on www.freeminds.org and many of the other sites that are linked on freeminds. I feel that anyone who does any critical thinking when looking at this organization will come to realize the problems with the organization and see right through it, but once they get sucked in, it is very difficult to get out, for the isolate you from all that you once knew that could help and protect you.

Thanks, I did not realize that the kn's were such a big deal, I just thought it was another publication, amongst their many. There are some jws who hand out literature by where I work, about a month ago when there were advanced copies available online, I made sure that these 'sisters' got a copy of the 'big news'.

Is The Society Truly "Destructive"?
by logansrun inis it really proper to say that the witness organization is a destructive religion (or cult) or that they promote self-destructive behavior in its members?
most on this forum would say yes, emphatically so.
i think the situation is actually more complex, however.

I would have to say that in the long term view of things the organization is quite destructive to the well being of members. Over time one is taught to stop thinking for one self, thereby losing the ability to critically think. Secondly, if a child is brought up in the organization, so much is taken from their childhood. Even if my wife can not presently pull herself away from the organization, she does discuss how much it has taken from her childhood.
On another note, the discouragement of education has really restricted a lot of very intelligent people from becoming self sufficient and truly being able to help others. I am not sure of the statistics with respect to lifetime earning power, but when one limits themselves to a high school, trade school or even moreso thinks that the theocratic ministry school will get them a good and stable job, one is really misguided.
Also, since so many of the witnesses believe that we are in the end times, they do not save for retirement, so when they reach the time that they should be retired and enjoying themselves, they will either need to rely on their children or keep working if they plan on having any kind of a standard of living at all.
It seems to me that many families that are brought up in the organization become quite dysfunctional, since they look to the elders and the governing body for their guidance and answers, or will only go to the wts publications for information and guidance, rather than relying on experts in the fields who have very academic and scientific research to support their guidance, rather than some viewpoints that are trying to fit a doctrine that may or may not be changed in the future. Even with my wife not being baptized as a jw, when there is an issue that effects her family, which is jw, she will look into the wt literature, contact the sister she has studied with or even call an elder from her parents congregation. Her parents are unable to think or make decisions on their own, they continually rely on the wt or ‘wait for Jehovah’, rather than doing what is correct.
On a purely physical aspect, the Jehovah’s Witnesses may not be destructive, except their blood doctrine, but from the mental and emotional aspects, as well as the financial well being of a family or person, at least imho they are quite destructive.

How much is the Watchtower worth?
by dido inhi, am relatively new on here, so haven`t seen any postings about how much the society is worth, but would really be interested to know.
what i can`t understand is what they are doing stockpiling money, when they could give some to the poor bro`s in africa etc.
give to poor pioneers, and hard up ones in congregations.

Does the wts own all the kingdumb halls and the associated property that they are sitting on? I bet that the holdings world wide are staggering.

Don't get a chance to get on here very often, but I always try to get a chance to read these comments. Wonderful job again Blondie. Shall be interesting if my wife reads this since she is in the process of wanting new furniture and redecorating, plus she has started back to school and want not only to pursue a BS degree, but eventually a JD as well.
Keep the great information coming Blonde, you all are great and have helped me more than anyone could ever imagine!!

Some Observations in the Bible Teach Book
by trem inhave anyone noticed that some controversial topics like 1914, non celebration of holidays, etc are contained in the appendix section of this new study book rather than in the main section.
can we conclude that topics in the appendix are not supported in the bible but are jw doctrines.
i suspect that there must be a reason for this action by the wts.

You are correct about the intent of the bible teach book, that is the one that my wife is supposedly studying with a sister. I have looked through it and it is written at a very low reading level and it definitely does not really get at any of the real controversial topics til the appendix. I think it really is just something to try to draw one to the kingdumb hall for a love bombing session, and then hopefully to get one to the point of wanting to be baptized.
The content is weak at best and really just to me seems a rehash of stuff available elsewhere, but the message is buyer beware, because it definitely does not mention disfellowshipping, amongst other painful doctrines.

Hello, I'm new here
by debbiedebbie ini left the jw's in 1990 and officially left or at least decided never to return again in 1993. i announced that i'd rather die in armageddon than live with these people.
they don't want to speak to me much anymore.. but i'm concerned because i have a 4 yr old child and i don't want to attend any church.
nothing against those who do.. but should i go for my child even though i will stare into outerspace until its over or is this a worse example than not attending at all?.
