Excellent idea. I hope they pick up on this. I noticed that it was on the Independent and the Telegraph, which I guess are local UK papers. But if this hits the BBC, it will have a good chance of going worldwide. At the least, it will give the WTB$ a nice big black eye.

Jehovah the Pedophile
by MoneurMallard innum 31:17 now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
num 31:18 but all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
is it any wonder why so many turn a bad leaf when it comes to sexual morality in the jehovah's witness organization.

Indeed. I never tire of this quote - it seems ever appropriate whenever anyone brings up the horrible crap in the Bible:
“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” - Richard Dawkins

As a JW - Did you See Meetings Continue in Spite of Medical Emergencies?
by flipper ini was talking the other day with a fellow board member about medical emergencies occuring at meetings and how we both agreed that we ( while jw's ) had never seen a meeting stop or be cancelled due to medical emergencies experienced by a fellow jw.
the wt society trains jw' s to lose their authentic human feelings or any empathy towards others physical or emotional sufferings many times.
so many times at meetings , in spite of someone suffering a serious medical emergency it was " the show must go on " type of attitude displayed by congregation elders.. my first experience at seeing a medical emergency at the kingdom hall was an older sister who had an epileptic attack.

I remember an elder giving a talk when his wife got up to go out looking unwell. She only got a few paces down the aisle when she dropped to the floor - he did not miss a syallable of his talk.
Wow. [sarcasm] What an excellent witness that must have been for any interested ones attending. "My wife has passed out, but this drivel is so all-fired important that I'll ignore her. HOW HAPPIFYING!" [/sarcasm]

This past Thursday, they passed some resolutions at our KH. For the first time ever in my life, I did not raise my hand. It felt good.

Buy a copy of "Crisis of Conscience" by Ray Franz and/or anything by Ricard Dawkins and leave them prominantly displayed on your coffee table. She'll leave right quick.

What Was The BEST Thing About Being A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus inthis thread could be a saver!.
-
Shador
Anyway- there are times I miss being a witness-well the way it was back in the 70's and up to mid 80's anyway. My life was better then.
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not inquire wisely concerning this. - Eccl. 7:10.
I don't quote the Bible often, but that seemed appropriate.
Correlation =/= causation. Just because your life was better then, doesn't mean it was being a Witness that caused that betterment, nor necessarially that leaving caused your life to be worse. Hang in there. Your mind is free now. Don't put yourself back in the cage.

Just why would god create dinos??
by highdose inthe jw answer to this is that there must have been some purpose for them that we don't yet understand.. but dinos were pretty violent, basic animals who killed without mercy.
i know not all of them but alot of them did.
the ones that were vegetarian ate huge masses of vegatation, how is that productive to the earth?.

If liove isn't in the universe, and I am in the universe, then how did I come to know love? How did anyone?
A side effect of other evolutionary developments. Love is basically debris.

Things to inspire JW Youth...We're rooting for you
by discreetslave injehovah's witnesses have the lowest retention rate of any religious tradition.
only 37% of all those who say they were raised as jehovah's witnesses still identify themselves as jehovah's witnesses.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6d2w-enhvdk.

http://religions.pewforum.org/reports
Another interesting statstic from that, on the next page of it:
So 16% of JW think that other religions can lead to eternal life!?!
And 18% think there is more than one way to interprit JW teachings.
Of course this is lower than any other group, but still higher than one might expect.

*start tongue-in-cheek rant*
Jeez, does no one pay attention to the little gender symbol next to people's name?
Can't a guy like faeries and ponies and unicorns and such without being called a female or gay?
*end tongue-in-cheek rant*
I suppose I could try to dig up a more "manly" profile pic if needed.
