i agree with serendipity, she is your mother and some day you may have to take care of her. you need to love her but go on with your life and make wise decisions.

ah, i am 17 and my mum is just 40.. she hasn't planned for her pension, she won't dedicate to a proper job or anything though i am trying to push her into anything.. the thing is, i don't just want her out of her faith, i want her to have a future where she can live and retire, she can't work forever and what if she got sick?.
ah, it drives me crazy what the witnesses do, maybe one day she might wake up, get angry with the wbt society and sue them!

Jehovah's Witness skating parties were da bomb!
by PaNiCAtTaCk inwas this just a local arkansas thing or were jw's everywhere getting jiggy at the skating rink?
we used to have awesome skating parties and witnesses from 150 miles away would come sometimes.
or sometimes we would drive that far to go to one.

Blondie I remember that article. it was so ridiculous. when i was a kid we used to have end of school year parties for all the kids. and one year, gasp, we had a treasure island theme, my mother was called to the back room because there was the skull and crossbone on the invitation. that was in the 70's.
the year before i graduated from high school (82), there was a group that was a year older than me, they were only permitted to go to the prom as a group. when i went to mine, i went with a really great guy who was always at our house on sundays after the meetings. a couple of years later he was df'd for dating a divorced woman with a child.

so true Think. i never realized until recently how much covering up there is that goes on. always knew things were going on and there was also preferential treatment depending upon who you were.

right, we couldn't play sports at school or any other organization because that would mean worldly associations. as far as i remember, the jw's were very competitive and could be nasty when playing any games at a gathering.

607BCE or 587/586BCE explained
by truth about the last days inhello all to all my brothers of the faith.
i have some information in relation to the dates 607bce and 587/586bce, with the simple explanation of the 70years exile.
the wt still sticks with the 607bce due to the fact that the governing bodys explains that the jews returned back at about 537bce, assuming that they were finished with their bondage.

back in the 70's many of the jw's went in to deep debt buying expensive homes and cars thinking they would never have to pay for them.
very shallow and short term thinking.

OMG! hand holding, just the same as 'heavy petting'!
oh and if you were dating, you had to have the intention of being married and had to have a chaperone even if it was your little brother or sister. hey, free babysitting!

Question for JWs still on the "inside":
by Hellrider injust a question: if you are still jws (for any reason, many just can`t leave because their entire families are wrapped around it, etc), but don`t believe in it, and lead a "double life", how do you cope with going door to door?
i just can`t imagine how it must feel like to go out there and try to tell people at the doors or in the streets things you know are just bs!
how do you deal with that?

since your boyfriend is only 28, they were probably banned by the time he was of age to have fun. i was one of the last few that was actually permitted to attend my sr prom!
