i am trying to compile a list of the key areas of cognitive dissonance in the jw faith.
again, this is the case of holding two conflicting/contradicting beliefs as true.
here is what i have so far.. i will be using these as ammo for those who question my decision.... - governing body - although the gb is directed by holy spirit and is god's channel of truth, it contains imperfect men who can provide (and have a history of providing) some false information.

Doctrines in a state of constant "flux" does not indicate they are the sayings of Jesus.

i've been considering the teachings of the 144k by the borg and am wondering why they allow women to partake especially considering revelation 14:4 which pretty much says the 144k are men who are virgins.
have any of you given this any thought?.

Your father is embarassed to be a witness, just like almost all of them are, except at the Kingdom Hall. There they can act like brave men.
One of my biggest gripes about 'my fellow elders' was that they would give a kid hell for standing for the national anthem at school, but when they would go to a ball game or a car race, they would always make it their plan to be already standing up or they would be at the bathroom or the food line when the anthem was played.

i have noticed that more and more, witnesses seem to be discussing the 1975 debacle amongst themselves, and agreeing that it is amazing that witnesses as a whole are all still here and the world is still here, and their kids are now in high school, or married, or whatever.
they also seem to be discussing the importance of retirement plans, in direct contradiction to what cos and dos are spouting at the annual conventions.... the last time this happened was at a recent funeral, where another long-time witness had passed on.
the interesting thing was that a younger group were discussing this, and some of them weren't even around in '75!.
When the "Childrens" book came out in 1941, it stated that the end would come in a matter of months, and the young couple of the book decided against marriage, and having children.
But when Knorr got his little peeny hard just a short decade later, all of a sudden marriage was OK. God changed his view.
Still----having babies is still wrong. But the JW's only increase is coming from babies.

i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.
I knew Albert Rogers.
He worked in the Accountants office when I first met him. Later the pressure made him request a change, I think to shipping.
Real nice guy, quite shy and backwards. Smart but dumb.

it is a secular site, but it does have a religious section.
