just tell them that when God picked their religion to be his only representative on earth, they were celebrating Christmas.
Was God wrong? Was he confused?

and petrified... i just recently became a pioneer and always had nagging questions in the back of my mind.
so, i decided that when i have get a study i would research all the questions as i go along so as to prove everything in the truth... i got 4 studies in about 2 months.
all was fine, until i reached i think chapter 6 in the bible teach book about the resurrection.
Welcome--
you wrote the following:He agreed with me and was very supportive about it. He said that if I find another religion that teaches the truth that we should go to that one. I told him the problem with that is that I have a HUGE family that is in the truth and do not want to lose them. He said that I shouldn't have to because if I found the real truth that they should be following it. He doesn't think I will find something else that teaches some of the correct main doctrines like Jehovah's name, etc...
Its the things that can change that really get to me. Why are they so adament about making you believe the things that are clearly people can't be 100% sure of.
And why do so many disfellowshippings take place on things that the bible does not say you should be disfellowshipped for. Why can't they just deal with it through Jehovah and say a prayer?
Now, I don't know what to do. It's just everything I ever believed has crumbled right before me and I have not the slightest clue of what to do. I just became a pioneer too.
I was a 60 year old baptized Witness for 45 years, my wife baptized for 47 years, I had been an elder for over 30 years and pioneerd many years, as well as raised 4 kids to be pioneers and 2 boys to Bethel.
When we found out about the UN association by the WT, we thought it was still the truth, but that the HQ had made a serious error. I wrote them and literally begged them for help in understanding why they would do such a bad thing. Their response was to sick the body of elders on us and disfellowship us.
Where in the Bible does it say to disfellowship people who get upset with the religious leaders?
Now, you and your hubby are at a crossroads, and LUCKY to be there!!!!
The WT is NOT and NEVER was the TRUTH.
But, to come to that conclusion, you have to really look into it. What a glorious opportunity you have right now to do that. You are at the right place at the right time.
One little point with regard to what your husband was using as one of his criteria for determining if something is the 'true religion', and that was the use of the NAME Jehovah.
You were aware that there is NO RECORD of Jesus using that name?
Like you, I believe that the name of God is Jehovah, and I too address him that way in prayer. However, Jehovah has placed JESUS CHRIST in charge of the earth and us and our salvation. Therefore, instead of the EMPHASIS being placed on the name JEHOVAH, we really should be focused on the one HE put in charge.
I hope this helps just a little, and wish you the best on your journey.

im trying to consciously remove myself from this board.
i have been seeking out other sites and believe i have found something that will work for me.
it is a secular site, but it does have a religious section.
I will miss you. Seems like most of the time I agree with you.
Hope you get to the convention for McCain, for your sake. That would be a real hoot.
I am still in flux over which one of the Republicans I like.
I like Fred Thompson the best, but he has a snowball's chance.
Rudy would be my next pick, but he is dying in the polls right now.
McCain, leans a little too far to the left for me
That about leaves Romney.

i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.
ROBERT JONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that's a story. I knew Bob after he left Bethel. He went to San Antonio, became real sick, seems that he went blind or something??? Can't quite remember.
Anyway, to dishoner the memory of all the good and wonderful things that I am sure he did, or thought he did, I have the following short experience-----------------
In about 94 or so, maybe a little earlier, Bob came out of bethel to San Antone... Our P.O. had been giving truck drivers blow jobs at the rest stop on highway 10, so I asked Bob to move over to our cong. I was acting PO, but told Bob he could be PO if he wanted, we just needed help. He declined.
Anyway, shortly thereafter, he was on the Circuit Assembly giving a talk and he said the following from the platform: (this is all true)
Before I got married, I was going to leave Bethel and go back to may home cong. Well, my overseer (big shot in Service Dept) called me in to his office and asked me,
"Bob, do you like this office?"
Well, I replied that I did.
Then he said, "Bob, if you go home now, you won't have an office like this one ever, even in the 'New System'. Just think, Bob, when armageddon is over and the new order is going, you could be at a desk like this one directing Jehovah's Work, instead of being told by others what to do!!!"
By the way, he stayed on at Bethel, got married and brought his wife to Bethel. Only later, in the 90's did he leave because of health problems, I think. WT threw him away too.
Before that day, and before that talk, I liked Robet Jones. I basically hated his guts, but not personally, after that. What a bunch of ego driven assholes. Him included.
May I please die today if this is not a true story.

we had one were a guy screwed his dog.. a guy got his step daughter pregnant and ran off with her, his wife committed sue-aside , in our country you can't marry your step children if you are the course of the brake up however apparently its not against scriptural law so the congregation gave them a marriage.. we had 4 sisters pregnant in the congro (all married) this bro of questionable mental health confessed to the elders to being father of them all.. .
The horse deal was in Monett, Missouri, at least it was heterosexual, it was a mare.
The dog deal was in Luling Texas.
The chicken deal was in San Marcos, Texas, by an elders son.
Don't know if he choked the chicken or not. Seemed he wasn't charged with rape AND murder.
The sad thing is, this stuff is true.
Spiritual paradise, oh yes.

did antone notice that the km insert doesn't display the upcoming district assembly theme?

Dog sex
Horse sex
About the funniest. Heard of one where a guy screwed a chicken.
Didn't know either him or the chicken though.

so i was df'd for living with/having sex with my boyfriend for 3 years and then not ending the relationship and moving out within the week between the first meeting of confession and the second meeting where they tell me what their decision was.
i did move out 3 months later with the intent of being reinstated over a period of time.
well i couldn't cut off the relationship with my bf even though i did move out, so i married him after a year and then 2 weeks after that i slept with someone else.
Helricha,
You wrote:So my question is not for the sake of just getting reinstated because I know how to do that - I've been through the process before. I need to know that if I want to salvage a relationship with Jehovah, is that what is expected?
Try to salvage a relationship with Jehovah some other way. The WT Society does not represent his interests. Have you ever heard of the blood of Jesus? That's where you can salvage your relation ship!!!
Best of luck.

Anyone remember a David White?
He was a real human being too.
I think they hung out together sometimes.
Jonathan is my son and I met David White one time on a visit with Jonathan. They were room mates in the 58 "Party Building" and on my first occasion to meet David White he was quite inebriated and proceeded to climb out the back window of the room onto the fire escape, which was several feet from the window. He was in just his underwear at the time, in winter NY.
Hey, if you want to get ahold of Jonathan, send me a PM and I will give you his email address.
