Just spoke w/ Elders Pls Help

i just got a call from an elder from my old kh, i have not been to meeitngs since april 2007. i recently took my daughter to thier first b-day party, (their cousin), anyways, they want to ask if i celebrate b-day now.

i told them i'd speak with them later.

so, since i ahve been inactive since april can they df me?????

you sound like you don't want to get the df. I can understand with family connections and all. But, the rewards of being out of the elders sphere of influence and investigation is totally rewarding.

If they want to discuss birthdays, I would simply ask them what Bible verses specifically condemn birthdays.

Since there are none, tell them that you are having a difficult time understanding their reasoning, and it has left you very perplexed why they would make such a big deal out of a non-Biblical issue.

If it gets nasty, tell them you thought there had been a change, since the WT Society celebrated the 50th Birthday of the United Nations.

Quick Q re: "This Generation"

breakthrough!.

i spoke to my jw mum about the new watchtower study magazine and how in the first issue there is a change in "light" regarding the anointed.. she was floored and totally accepted that if they started to accept new anointed ones (non-replacements) that it *could* indicate that the society are extending the time once again regarding the coming of armageddon.

the idea is that if they accept new anointed ones, then they could be fairly young, hence they could still be around for a lot more years!.

Adjustments will be necessary but that does not mean that slave is not the means Jehovah is using. We are in a time of greater increasing of light the unveiling of which is gradual.

Geoff Jackson gave the talk on the year text. He asked “Are you ready for Jehovah’s Day?” He said this year’s text from Zechariah got us focused on fact we are living in the final part of the last days. This time is different in three ways.

Brother John Barr (GB) spoke on the illustrations Jesus used regarding the Kingdom (mustard grain, dragnet, etc.) Very detailed. We are to be busy in the work sowing our seed and we are to get the sense of Jesus illustrations.

Theodore Jarcz (GB) spoke Christ’s Presence and End of System
He used the illustration of a talk. The conclusion covers a period of time. The speaker sums up or draws audience to a decision or the like. Takes time. The end is when he walks off the platform.

Jesus presence includes taking power in 1914, dealing with opposers; all the features of the last days
including the ingathering of the chosen ones their deaths and resurrection. This means an extended period of time. Up to and including fulfillment of Revelation. Spiritual discernment necessary to be bright and clear to us which it is. Those without spiritual knowledge do not see the significance. WE DO! Some anointed will be alive when the tribulation begins. First vision in Revelation. 1914 until last of anointed dies and is resurrected.

Be resolved to be more urgent to keep on the watch. Prove ourselves ready for Jehovah, Jesus and our own welfare.

The "generation" is all the anointed as a class from 33 CE to the end of the world. In the context of Matt. 24:34 was Jesus talking to his followers. Other instances of generation often had clarifiers, such as "wicked generation", etc.
Bro. Barr stopped and said, "By the way, you'll be happy to know that there will be anointed on earth at the time of Armageddon".

i received my copy of barbara andersons cd paedophilia in an american religion a month or two ago, and i have been reading through it since.. what follows, although i have called this a review, is in no sense a scholarly consideration of the legal merits of the cases described, a task for which i am wholly unqualified.

these are, rather, my subjective reflections on the material presented, the impressions i gathered while reading the legal filings, my untrained, common-man appraisal of the cases laid out in those documents.

ill also admit to being swayed by tone of voice adopted, and to using my own common-sense yardstick in determining the reasonableness of the statements made, the responses given and the arguments put forward.

I have long appreciated the 'fight' that Danny has waged with the giant oppressor. Danny is a hero to some of us, me for one.

I don't know all of the circumstances surrounding the event, and I doubt if any of us know, but I went in service for 45 years, and if there was a DNC or a sign "No Trespassing", I took it seriously. The WT instructions were that if we went ahead to a door that had those signs, we would be on our own.

Does anyone really think that those guys did not know what they were doing when they called there? Danny's house has to be the most identified and hated place in their territory.

I do agree with many on the board that have encouraged all of us to "let the anger go". It would be nice to do that, if we could.

Some have called this an "atrocity". That is quite a bit of an overstatement. I would call it an unfortunate incident. I wouldn't do it, but I will let Danny and the courts figure this one out.

the awake magazines are down to once a month.

the new releases are now down to one book.. there are several "special campaigns" of offering leaflets- invitations to the memorial or dc and kingdom news.. here are some of the additional possible cost-saving measures.

You are correct in principle, but Linda was just suggesting that they be sued. What the hell is wrong with that? Maybe some people were born into it and stayed only because of the 'shunning'.

I am not one to deny personal responsibility, however, that does not absolve them from their responsibility. They claim to be God's representatives. Would you say they are filling their stated claim and the responsibility that goes with it?

I say, if you have a case, sue the hell out of them.

But, the government of the US makes it very difficult for people to sue their church. It becomes a separation issue.

yes, as far as jehovahs witnesses are concerned, apostates are evil, wicked, faithless liars.. i was wanting to ask - assuming most if not all who come here are in the jw category of apostate, how do you feel about the fact that you are portrayed in such a light by the org?.

i will be the first to admit - i always thought that those who criticized the org were untruthful or exaggerating.

its not until now i have considered what you guys have to say and how you feel that i realize that what you have to say is all truthful (tinged with a bit of anger perhaps).. personally i think its verging on character assassination.
