  Time to say goodbye...

  i think the time has come for me to say good bye.

  i came here mainly for research to help get my wife and some friends out and i've done that and more!

  i may still stop by from time to time but i feel i can no longer be a full time member.

  I feel at this juncture they have begun to hinder my search for happiness and so I must go.

  I think it's being on this board full-time that would hinder anybody's search for happiness. Too much time here creates an altered state of consciousness - which can serve a purpose depending on where you are in your life, like laid-up with a broken leg or sealed in a dungeon (I hate when that happens!)

  fools and self inflated yes men and will not hold my tongue for these blowhards

  the REAL WORLD!

  How much influence did the internet have on you leaving the organization?

  during what period of time did they have some credibility and were they most active and making the most money?.

  around here, when i joined back in 1987, there were so many pioneers in the congregation and they were in the field service morning, afternoon and evening.

  that lasted about 5 years, then it was a quick and steady decline in field service and a decline in building new halls.

  50's.

  The leadership in the congos resided with men and women who had personally responded to the message of 'the New World' and consciously chosen to be witnesses, not just born into it. They had made waves with their preaching and conscientious objection - young men had gone to prison and their young wives had waited for them. JWs were unified by their common experiences - like survivors of a shipwreck. These were the people who were making a contribution to shaping the development of the post-war JW lifestyle. There was an urgency and an excitement when the information from Brooklyn was fresh and new. Service as a pioneer, a Bethelite, or a Gilead student was romanticized and the young were swept up in the adventure of it all.

  The "Good News" began to get shopworn, repetitive and dull by the early 70's. 'A promise delayed is making the heart sick' or something like that. Even 1975 was limited in the power to stir up the juices again. And the year closed with a resounding thud. Downhill ever since and picking up speed.

  soooo, i go and get these photos of lori, or of lori and i, and then i come back here and i can't find the gd post!!

  i'm talking about the new posters, like kitten whiskers, who started posting today (hope this works: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/120817/1.ashx).

  and it seems like we're getting a few like this nearly every day.

  people who were raised jws, really worry that they are doing the right thing in leaving, yet who have been made to feel not good enough by the wts, who felt they never measured up, who struggled with it, but came to realize that what they'd been brought up to believe was just not the truth.. the same stories are told over and over again, and they come from sincere, good people - not whiny, fault-finding apostates like the rest of us riffraff around here!

  You are supported by us in whatever you need to do. Only you know how to make this work for you and for your personal circumstances. I believe that you are moving in a positive direction and will ultimately get to where you need to be. We are all pulling for you to become truly free - of course!   Society goes nuts--yet another "special" campaign for September!

  in an earlier post here http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/114651/1.ashx i noted the society's "special campaign" for september, an "awake" magazine dedicated to the topic of evolution vs. creation.

  there is a "special campaign" to highlight that magazine all month.. got a call from our po last night.

  there is going to be yet another "special campaign" in september -- a new "kingdom news" tract.
