  do you think that JW are brainwashed?

  i'm d/f for about 2 years and my dad ( an elder ) hasn't spoke with me since, my mom sometimes talk to me , but i always have to call her , just to see how's she's doing, and guess what, when she answer her phone is : oh, i was preeching!!!.

  they're always preeching, but my brother contact me today telling me that we can speak again due to the fact that i'm d/f , what do you guys think?

  Who's name are Christians persecuted for?

  i have had the following realization before, but it just hit me again last night.

  i am reading this book called daughters of hope, it is about christians being persecuted around the world and their stories.

  in reading this book last night, it hit me again, all these people were being persecuted and killed for the name of jesus, not jehovah.

  Jesus said, " They persecuted ME, they will persecute you also". Pretty clear to me who he was talking about here. Has anyone also noticed how the NWT translated Rom.10:13?? This whole chapter deals with Christ, and yet they say that " all who call on the name of Jehovah will be saved". I guess in the WTS Jesus is second fiddle. Make that third fiddle, I forgot that the Organization is second. SORRY !!

  find joy in god's work?

  i hated service, hated getting up early, hated wearing dresses/skirts,hated bugging people early on the weekend, hated "preparing" for service (all i did was read the little blurb on the inside of the awake lol) hated being grouped with elder ihatecoffeebreaks and sister letsdoonemoredooreventhoughits12.......one day brother ihatecoffeebreaks asked me why my time was dropping in service and i said "because i hate service" ( i mean i was taught to be honest right?

  I hated it so much, When I was a teenager I used to fake ringing the doorbell and then go on to the next house, your turn now sister. HA HA HA. Man I ended up with a lot of not-at-homes.

  Nice job Terry, Thats usually my first response, to lash back with what I now know to be "truth". Hasn't worked well. Gotta try a different approach. I must say though, that those I have had a "Polite discussion" with have never been able to answer any of my probing questions. Three different Jw's that I have asked about the Mexico/Malawi situation,( one being an elder ) all 3 said they would get back to me. It's been over a year now and I am still awaiting their response.

  have you notice that every time someone questions the society they always end up using this phrase,"we hope that our response to your question will be of help to you on your road back to 'spiritual recovery'.

  " this is why we sent a copy of your letter / question / questions to your local body of elders as they will now be in a better understanding on how to be of help to you on your road back to "spiritual recovery.".

  in other words, when you question the society on anything that troubled you, you have lost your spirituality.

  Just another in a long line of events leading to a charge of "independent thinking".

  See that Nina, you're guilty of" Independent thinking". Thats why Prov.14:17b says that "the man of thinking ability will be hated". Its always a numbers game with them. I see all the elders were ready to jump at the oppertunity to grab some easy hours huh.

  i had a conversation (debate) with my disfellowshipped husband about "the truth" that he tries so hard to protect.

  me: hey, babe, can you tell me again why jw do not celebrate birthdays?.

  hubby: well, only two are mentioned in the bible, and on both, men were killed.. me: well, herod and pharoah killed men whenever they felt like it right?

  If and when he talks to you ( and he probably wont ) Ask him this:

  • Birthdays: People die in car accidents every day, does that mean I should stop driving? Angels celebrated the birth of Christ.
  • Oral sex: I dont see anywhere in the bible where it talks specifically about it.
  • Voting: Ask him to look up the Nov. 1, 1999 WT article " How do Jehovah's Witnesses view voting?" According to the article it is now a " Personal Decision".

  well friends i have took your advice i have read your posts looked at all the possibilitys i can but i have had no joy with my daughter at all i have been so calm with her but she seems to have been brainwashed that much by the jw in such a short time its unreal.

  i just cannot beleave how it has affected her so much its frightening.

  she has even sent jws to our house to preach there shit to us i told them to f***off but i think they are that zombie-fied they dont realy know whats going on and they still stand there when its pissing it down with rain with a big stupid smile on there faces whats it all about eh.

  666, I share your pain, Im going through basically the same thing with my 14 yr old. How old is your daughter? I've gotten plenty of good advise here on the board. My daughter is talking about baptizm too. Right now I think theres not much I can do, but let time due the healing. She refuses to listen to me, so Im just laying low right now. My prayers are with you.
