H20 vs JWD

h20 was a smashing success for a long time, even with many moderators.

the board rules were basically good common sense, and expressed some issues as to matters of law, such as not violating copyright, etc.

i don't understand why h20 went down the tank.

H2O was great for a number of reasons. And there are a number of reasons for its eventual demise.

First, the software and server change killed it. The board went down for 72 hours, and that is an eternity on the 'net. The new software was absolutely horrible and the familiarity and nostalgia that made H2O special was gone.

Second, Rick went off the deep end, started posting very weird things, and was always an odd, distant sysop. H2O used to have an identity, then it starting morphing, and with the 3 day interval, I think a lot of us started realizing that H2O's identity was undefinable, and it suddenly became an uncomfortable place to be.

Third, and corrolary to the above, H2O's main focus was on reform, and eventually there were no reform-minded active JWs who inhabited the board. Rick never, ever took my suggestion to heart that the OPEN FORUM be put on the back burner and make the JWs in the 21st Century forum the main one.

I haven't even looked at H2O for 16 months, after thousands of posts over 5 years. Too bad, too bad.

Thanks guys. My surgery is scheduled for Sept 5. I had to have some dental work done so they had to postpone. Your mouth has to be in tip-top shape before they will operate on your heart. I wish I was in IC now though.... get this over with and start feeling better.

so many chaps are totally inept when it comes to climbing ladders, wielding a screwdriver or wiping a joint, that wives are getting a little pe'ed off with men who just want to show their feminine side.

todays woman wants her man to be a do-er, a fixer, a man who creates, a man who can and does!

Sheila Bowen's Letter To the GB!

i knocked on the locked door of the appeal hearing last night after they had dismissed bill and told the six elders that i had something to say to them and told them it was summed up it a letter i had written.i then asked them if i could read it to them and they could have their own copy when i was finished.they said that would be fine.. here it is.

The only problem I have is that your fight is not so much with the WTS or JWs but with Moses and Paul. The JWs have a BIBLICAL policy, and they are exercising it, even if you or I or anyone else thinks it is outdated or wrong. So I can't pity anyone who leaves the JW association based on their application of scriptural injunctions.

i did not date until 19 ... and married the only person i dated.

he kept going of course ( which may of been the wise choice) for she may of done him in if he stopped.

luckily she made a mad dash for the door and made inside in record time.

as of 8:30 pm this evening the appeal hearing decided to uphold the decision.

i spoke to them for over an hour and tried to reason with them as to the validity of their decision.

frankly, they were not interested.

How Many Here Have Been Shunned?

as most of you already know, the jehovah's witnesses are covering an article in their august kingdom ministry to be discussed the weeks of 8/19 and 8/26 which details how they are to shun and avoid those who are no longer members of their organization, even immediate family members.. .

undoubtedly this article has been written to reinforce to the rank&file jehovah's witnesses the shunning policy, so as to tighten the ranks and prevent members from having the opportunity to learn the abundant contradictions and hypocrisies found within watchtower doctrine and practice from any who may have left.. this policy also serves to divide families and attempt to shame or abuse those whom have chosen to no longer be jehovah's witnesses, for whatever reason.. that much is obvious.

in recent days this topic has been discussed in detail in various threads.

I left the JWs in 1997 and was DF'd in 2000 for associating with a DF'd person.

My JW family refuses to shun me. In fact, other than my parents, I don't think any of them know I am DF'd.

I have made a ton of close friends since I quit the JWs, so I have been fortunate. It breaks my heart to read these stories. The new KM notwithstanding, I hold out hope that some day, somehow, the WTS will loosen up and realize that 99% of JWs hate the shunning rule and will eventually end the madness.
