What about your JW past are you thankful for?

in the interest of self-healing and finding the peace that comes from being grateful, can you think of anything at all that was positive about having been one of jehovah's witnesses?.

not to be misunderstood with missing something about it, is there something about the experience that has enriched you?.

to answer the question myself, being forced to face the fallacies of the teachings of jwism, i was also prompted to look past those teachings and reevaluate everything i believed in.. that experience was frightening and unsettling, but i'm thankful for it.. i now have a greater appreciation for life in all its wonder than i did when i took it for granted as one of jehovah's witnesses.. i'm more determined now to find meaning in this life, after having lived for so long for a future that was never to arrive..

I agree with Dawg. Let me say, Dawg, I'm soooo proud of you for going to school. Forty-five isn't old. I'm right behind ya (40 in March).

There is nothing I am thankful for either. I still have my faith in God, but I could have gotten that in any church. Actually I might have gotten that from my Grandpa.

Should I thank them for telling me the world was gonna end violently before I could finish school? Remember, I'm nearly 40---no education. Even after I left it stayed in my mind that I didn't have time to do anything. The end is right around the corner!!!!!!! They always keep the end 2 or 3 years ahead of us--just the amount of time it takes to start and almost finish college. Then there was the problem of what to do with a college degree when the world was gone. ARGHHHHH

Dawg, I think it's pretty cool that you get to go to football games as a student---late is better than never. You'll do fine.

when i heard the lyrics to this i thought it resembled my experience then when veiwing the vid i thought it definatly did.warning some of the vid might be a bit overthetop.. this is the sort of song i would love to turn up loud in the car and walk out of a meeting with the elders to.

many of you helped me a great deal while i was working on the first 18 years and up until i was married.. i took a break at that point thinking i could continue to work on it.

in fact i haven't touched it.

turns out i really needed your encouragement and support.. so i would like to do the same for the next section - the witness/married years (15 years).. .

Bless your heart. Depression is a monster. It robs us of our energy, our thinking ability, our will to live. There have been days when I won't wash a dish. Then I look around and my house is a wreck--and proceed to beat myself for being worthless and lazy. Am I worthless and lazy? No, just honestly I was so apathetic it didn't matter what the place looked like. I would rather have burned it down than clean it.

Talking things out helps. If your comfortable talking to us, that's great. If not, try writing your feelings down just to get them out of your head. If you still have a close friend (JW's tend to leave you with NONE), stay in close contact with that friend.

Things get better. There will be setbacks along the way, it's just part of the healing process.

Your feelings are justified, your anger is justified. Work through them......baby steps.

Invited to a baby shower-by someone who hates me

i received an invite to go to a baby shower.

no big deal normally, i love shopping for baby stuff, but this woman despises me.

she has ignored me everytime we meet.

Why in the world would a baby need an Ipod? Why not write a note and say you will not attend a "Mom Shower"

Go Dawgs!!!! My two fave teams are Bama and the team playing Auburn. I see Georgia in the SEC Champ game. WoooooHooooo I LOVE FOOTBALL!!!

Bama has got Miss State. Sylvester Croom has finally made a decent team out of them. If we lose Saturday, it won't be the end of the world. After all, Sylvester Croom is one of "Bear's Boys".

The Depths They Will Sink To.....

having almost gotten over my jw ex-best friend telling me she could no longer be my friend, handing me back my spare keys, sending a note and present to my kids with not even a 'dear sam', shunning me in the park, etc, etc she now sacks her immigrant cleaner (who became her cleaner due to my recommendation a year ago) by text message.

cleaner phones her to check out what's going on and she tells her you can no longer clean for us as you work for sam and my husband wants us to have no connection whatever - you may tell her things about us and we don't want that.

charming, another kick in the stomach for me and a great witness to the cleaner (who ironically we found out a few months ago has a father who is a witness!).

A true friend would never treat you that way. True friendship is unconditional love, not withholding love to bully someone to come around to their point of view. A friend would be there to give you support. Oh yeah, if she does that they would kick her out too. Sad.

Thankfully, my best friend and I got booted from the JW's at the same time. We would have never made it without each other's support.

I'm so sorry your "friend" turned on you. They are so brainwashed!! Since when do we use love as a weapon? And why the paronia about the housekeeper telling you things? What is she hiding? Stories like this remind me of the insanity in the religion.

it's bad enought that young people in the wt have to sell magizines, risk shunning when they find out the truth about the gb... but this article really makes me laugh and angry at the same time.

the part that made me the maddest was when the father said he "conquered" the habit, lying bastard!

The Society seems to be pre-occupied with sex. How many times a week were we warned about fornicating, masturbating and such? They make sex into some evil demon.

This article made me laugh, and made we angry as well.
