1995 or 96 I think (that's when I began fading). Without some religious dogma forcing me to read it, I've moved on to better written and more entertaining fiction

Angel Eye needs an education on the identity and nature of Christ
by jonathan dough inangel eye wrote:.
john 14 v 1 shows jesus and jehovah are not 1.. acts 2 v 4 and 17 clearly show the holy spirit isnt a person, its gods active force.. john 14 v 28 is total proof, otherwise jesus would clearly be insane saying such things .
toomany scriptures to prove it...but just a few for you to recall,i guess its hard when your reading false claims to remember the truth.. .

Well put ATJ!
Here's my favorite quote on the subject from the movie Dogma
Rufus: He still digs humanity, but it bothers Him to see the shit that gets carried out in His name - wars, bigotry, televangelism. But especially the factioning of all the religions. He said humanity took a good idea and, like always, built a belief structure on it.
Bethany: Having beliefs isn't good?
Rufus: I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant. -

So, if you all believe in roughly the same imaginary friend and look to the same book of mythology for your answers, why all the arguing?

by angel eyes inwhat publication did you study and how long was the study for??.

I didn't study, was born in and an elder's kid. Due to pressures within the borg, I learned and reguritated the answers necessary to get baptized at age 10. And now I'm completely shunned by everyone I knew prior to age 20 based on a "decision" I "made" when I was a little kid.

Should Elderly People Be Forced To Show ID If They Want To Buy Alcohol?
by minimus inin a local convenience store, the owners have installed an id checker for anyone purchasing alcohol.
they require you to put your id in this machine to determine whether or not you are of legal age.
even if you are 85 years of age, you have to comply or you can't buy a beer!.

I'm 34 and I already feel indignant if I have to fish for my ID. I don't and haven't looked under 21 for some time.
I get a bit spoiled I guess, most of the places I go I'm kinda like Norm at Cheers. Everyone knows me or at least recognizes me. Alot has to do with the fact that the same security service supplies bouncers or event staff to most of the bars and venues here. I don't blend (even in Portland), so I usually only have to show my ID to them once ever.

JB, it's the typical pervy bullshit elders seem to be renowned for.
On teenage girl I knew had to edit her bumper sticker on her truck that read "Irresponsible and built to stay that way" to remove "built" as it was an obvious reference to her curvy figure
On the other side of the fence, one of my younger sisters had many "library parties" to address her clothing. Apparently broomstick skirts and boots were not within the elders' fashion limitations. They also had several meetings wherein they told her she needed to shave her legs, wear her hair differently etc.

can you really ever fade with immediate family still in?
by oompa ini am beginning to think not....elders still want to call on me rather than befriend me in any way.....and with a "good" wife and son and parents in, it seems like i still have one foot in only because of the overlap with my other "free" self........it is hard to really feel free in this situation, and is still have desire to just run the fluck away.....which would mean pretty much giving up my family in nearly every respect.
some here really miss their family and wife, others so love the freedom they seem able to move on and start fresh....as you know, i dont seem to have the balls for that, and at this point in my life the price seems to high to fully start over........it is the "one in one out limbo dance"......oompa.

I moved to a different state at age 20 before I began fading. I had this luxury as I wasn't married or tied in personally, so the only tie to break was the parents (both of my siblings were already on their way out). Fortunately, since my fade and many subsiquent moves, I have no elders or dubs calling on me. The only family I see fairly often are already out themselves, so no "you haven't been in awhile" convos.

What do non witnesses actually think about the evil practice of disfellowshipping?
by jambon1 inwhenever i have mentioned this practise to people who don't know much about the witnesses (although they should know about them due to the worldwide preaching activity .
to most right thinking people it is absolutely just not an option to have no contact with your immediate family.. one lady said to me "i'd rather rip my heart out".. what has been your experience when people find out that jw's carry out this evil practise?.

My experiences have been much the same Jambon. Most of the persons I have to explain it to are people I date. My experience has been that most people have no schema for it. The entire idea that you would divorce a family member over something as ridiculous as which church they attend is unfathomable to them. Only within a cult would this type of behavior even be an option. I have known people who became strippers, drug addicts, criminals, etc that are still loved and accepted by their families, yet I am not because of a difference over my parents' imaginary friend
