Beards are evil, but do you know why?

as a witness, i knew several men who attempted to grow beards.

when they did, and attended meetings, it did not take long to be talked to by elders and told, "as spiritual men, they should not display an outward form of rebellion.

" why was this a form of rebellion?

I am fascinated by this topic, as well. Interestingly, I have heard the hippie thing, and like you said, that is no longer valid. I see respected business men all the time with well trimmed beards and goatees. It makes it even more ridiculous to me that the witnesses go ahead and allow moustaches. What's the difference?

The most maddening part to me is the answer you get from the brothers if you argue this subject.

"What's more important to you; your personal rights, or how you might affect others? Wouldn't it be loving to consider the feelings of the rest of the congregation as more important than your personal rights?"

Has anyone else heard this backwards reasoning?

Mother violates privacy and gets burned!

i started a word document in early october regarding the failed predictions of the wbts.

i titled it as false prophets and my intent was to have a resource for information regarding wbts publications that verified that they claimed the end of the world was happening on such and such date and they knew about it because of their privileged status of having an open frequency with the almighty itself.

the document was basically a cut and paste from the quotes website with a little commentary from myself in-between biblical and wbts quotes.

Sorry to hear about this, Darth. It is amazing to me that the same exact mindset towards any type of independent thinking exists worldwide among witnesses.

I would print out what she typed and give it to her. I would politely point out a couple of things.

If it’s so wrong, then why bother?

Why not just let God take care of it?

If you are so wrong, why does she bother?

Why doesn't she let God take care of your "wrong" views?

Don’t you think he can?

Do you really think he needs you to help him?

Ditto to her. Doesn't she think God knows what's on your computer? Does he need her to help him?

I would then tell her that she is right about trying to see the good in each other, agree that everybody should work on that, and then ask politely that she not snoop around your private stuff any more. I wouldn't even touch any "witness" issues, the matter of her rudeness is the real issue, and it would probably help your side to show that she, the witness, is the one who is out of line.

Nobody.

I open up more on this board than I do to anyone in real life......

I don't know anyone else who can handle the things I have learned about the org. Even all of my inactive and df'd friends still won't speak against the society. I don't want to mess with the only group of friends I have, so I keep quiet.

i only have one that comes to mind.

a sister was visiting our hall from another congregation and was sitting in the back of the hall.

she raised her hand to answer a question, but only had one finger in the air.

I have another one. I fell asleep during the last prayer at a bookstudy. When everybody said "amen" it woke me up and I started clapping. Didn't live that one down for a long time.

WTBS--What's the motive?

my sister and i have speculated for quite some time about the possible motives of the gb and all others in charge of the wtbs, i.e., their raison d'etre, so to speak.

after finding out about some of the history of the wtbs and the supposed f&ds, i realized that they weren't god's spokepeople on earth.

but, then, what's their motive for all the work they're doing in the organization?

I think also that they really believe they are chosen by God and directed by angels. Money is just one of the most powerful drugs out there. Power is usually ranked just as high or higher than money. Control is also on the level with the other two. Sort of a motivational trinity.

I think they are drunk with the thought of being the mediator between six million people and God. That belief allows them to commit any kind of atrocity in the name of "righteousness". They can even control families, splitting them right down the middle. It's the kind of wacked out rush that has moved people all through history to do insane, violent things.

Dignity is something I never felt I had as a witness. Dignity is also something that I feel the witnesses are trying to keep me from having if I stay away from them.

One time at bookstudy, one boy about 19 was reading and we were studying the family book. He read this paragraph:

After he read "vulva", he said, "Whatever that is?!" and kept reading. The whole bookstudy erupted into uncontrolled laughter. The person laughing the hardest was his mom!

I was just having a beer last night with one of my friends who is df'd. It came to my attention that he didn't even know about the new announcement. He laughed when I told him that they said "Atypical's buddy is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses". He thought he got off pretty good. I laughed at the fact that he was so positive about it.
