Ok, now I feel bad. I wish I had the guts to put up a tree. Merry Christmas to all of you who do have a tree, and many presents under it.

Of course, I will not go anywhere near that card. But I don't know if I should try to persuade my wife not to sign. It has been my experience that blood is arguably the touchiest issue you can ever raise with a witness. I personally know several people who faded years ago and would never consider being a witness, but they say that they would refuse blood at the hospital. It seems to be an ignorance issue. I don't know if it would be worth it to make an issue with my wife, or if I should just be happy that she is not pressuring me. Oh well, right now I don't care.

Which religion is right for you?
by seesthesky inyou scored as judaism.
your views are closest to those of judaism.
if you are not a jew, do more research on judaism and possibly consider becoming one; however, realize that conversion to judaism is difficult.

Mine was non-denominational Christian. Jehovah's Witnesses was like the least likely match for my profile. Can't imagine how I ended up here.

Childlessness: Missing Part of My Humanity
by prophecor insomehow it just occured to me, i've no idea where this came from all of a sudden, but not being one who's ever had children of their own, i feel the missing portion of my humanity has been lost in this.
those who are biological mothers and fathers have a kinship with thier children that defies the normal comprehesion of those who've never had them.
it came to me while watching a movie tonight, minority report with tom cruise.

I know what you mean. We have not had any children yet. Sometimes I wonder if maybe we will not be able to relate to real world family problems if we do not have a child. I know couples who have not had children ever who definitely turn me off. I also know parents with children who turn my stomach. I don't know what the answer is. I think it must be that we need to feel unconditional love in some aspect of our life.

Well, I have been trying to fade for months now, it is not going well. Today, Christmas Eve, I tried to have some kind of a normal day. Of course, I didn't talk to my parents. I called my sister, but she didn't call me back. My wife and I spent the afternoon with her parents, which was nice. When we pulled up to our house, our subdivision was filled with cars from my old congregation.
See, we live a few doors down from an active witness couple. They had a "party" tonight, and invited pretty much every witness they know, which includes most of my old hall (the hall my wife goes to) and those who used to be in that hall but have moved. The party included several people who have been harassing my wife at the meetings (where is your husband? I know who he is hanging out with! those people are like death! they are doing nothing with the truth!)
I don't know. It just hurt really deep to pull into my driveway after dodging all the vehicles of the "loving" brothers and sisters who now despise me. Especially knowing that they were at a Christmas Eve party (let's be honest) and I was away from my family (me being the one who is supposedly "wayward").
Christmas sucks even more now for me. I hate it.

WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site
by Quotes inin compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

I hate to be the 1,000th person to say this, but:
Quotes, you were singlehandedly responsible for flipping the switch in my mind that once said the organization was pure and upright. I was too afraid to read any site that contained "apostate" views, but I was not afraid to read yours. And that's because you were smart enough to use the wtbts' own bs against them. You used the self control to remain silent and let them bury themselves. It worked; it was the words I read from their own publications that damned them in my mind.
I truly am mourning the loss of your website today, and I expect the feeling will last. I hope very much that we can figure out a way to post the information in various locations or in a way that the wtbts cannot attack.
Good luck to you and your wife. Best wishes in moving on; feel proud about the good you have done.

QUOTES web site is off line.

is quotes web site off line temporarily or permanently shut down?

This is really upsetting. Personally, I think Quotes is just about the best hope for getting an active witness to see what's wrong with the religion. The fact that it is only quotes from the society makes it hard for a witness to criticize it. I think we should band together and get as many people as possible to host copies of this site. If enough people do it, it would be nearly impossible for the org to keep tracking each one down.
I have hosting space with my isp, I am going to check what the limit is.

Do you still keep track when the Circuit Overseer visits your congregation?
by JH inwhen i first faded many years ago, i always wanted to know when the co was visiting my congregation.
i would always becareful during that week not to answer the door, just incase he came by.
avoiding them was my way to freedom.. i didn't want him to bible talk me back to going to meetings.

Yes, because I know that there is more chance of the elders trying to visit me beforehand. As I understand it, the elders have to answer to CO each visit about what they have done to try to contact the inactive ones. So right before the CO comes, there is usually a stepped up effort on the part of the elders to give a "shepherding call". It happened to me just a few weeks ago. As long as I have family in the org, I will always have to be alert for the CO visit.
