Does anyone know if it went anywhere other than an interesting essay? Has anyone used the strategy in court?

It was well made and I thought it made the JWs look silly. I think that was the point. The message is childish so only a child will listen. And thats all it took to make the simple JWs happy was a six year old taking them seriously. I say it is great and I sent it my active JW wife.

Deep River CT?
by new light inanybody here attend the deep river, ct or nearby congregations in the 1980s/90s?

Yes, most of the people thought they would be getting their own hall. When they found out it wasn't going to happen they were not at all happy. Then they had to be told 'When you give your money to the society you should not worry about how they decide to spend it' meaning if they decide to keep it thats none of your concern. There were times when it seemed like the brother defending the society was pissed himself but had to defend the society from the stage. They knew they got ripped off but had to accept it if they wanted to be good Christians.

Deep River will never get its own hall again. There is like 40 people there and property and the cost to build in Ct. is way out of their price range. BTW the elder who suggested selling was banging a married pioneer sister at the time. Both were DFed and then got married. So much for decisions being guided by Holy Spirit.
Alot of Deep River people were pissed becuause they had given alot of money toward puchasing a new hall, money that the WTS also kept. There were some heated discussions during the service meetings abouit all of this.
They share with Westbrook and were told by the society that would never change. Some drive pretty far to get there.
Imagine, given what we know about the WTS's legal troubles you could say they sold their hall so the WTS could defend itself in court.

Creator Book - Periodic Table - Part 1
by Amazing ini believe in god ... but not because of any watchtower teaching.
it is actually fun to look back and see how they applied very poor logic and nonsense to try and prove their point.
today, the (c) 1998 watchtower book, "is there a creator who cares about you" was placed with me at the door.

Jim,
Thanks again for another informative and insightful post. I have no problem with a chaotic God and have never understood the emphasis the WTS placed on God being orderly.
The God the WTS claims exists doesn't need them to defend him and as you have shown he would do better if they didn't try to.

League of nations/ UN..end of one , beginning of another..question
by candidlynuts inin +'s post here http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/127431/1.ashx.
he posts a few videos (excellent!)...
i forget which one, but in one of them a brother in 1942 at an assembly declares the end of the league of nations and that gods government was taking over.

The UN was in developement long before 1945 and there was much publicity of this in the press. Any news magazine publisher,( WTBTS), would have been aware of this. JWs did not predict its formation in 1942 as some claim. It was common knowledge. I have some cartoons and articles from the New York Times, 1942, about the United Nations.

Thats great that you have stopped drinking and recognize you have a problem. My advice is make sure you keep this going even if you need to get some supoport at AA. You may make some friend there too.
I was a very heavy drinker while I was a witness and so were many of my friends. Drinking kept me in the organization longer than I should have been because there was all these social drinking events and because I didn't study much.
When I stopped drinking and started studying I saw things more clearly and left. Sounds like you are seeing things more clearly too.
Good luck and hang in there.

An Example of honesty wt Feb.2007
by bobld inthe wbts has published many of these, where money is found and returned to the owner .with a reason, because i am a jw.in this issue, there is a big picture of nelma:a woman from chuzeiro do sul, brazil.she apparently found $1000.00 in the pockets of some trousers that were donated because of a flood.nelma returned the money to the businesswoman who had donated the clothing.this lady was overjoyed to receive the money, because she had set aside her payroll for her employees in a trouser pocket.. should they(gb/fds) be idolizing these honest people?.
note:no man should be idolized.christians should guard against idolatry.it means giving such a one a measure of worshipful devotion.but god explicitly stated that he does not tolerate such a thing.however, they (gb/fds) lack proper perspective,of knowledge and understanding of honest people helping people.it is as if by exalting a fellow human creature they are lifting themselves up also.. now here is an example from the world.. this is from a wordly newspaper.yes i know the wts says these are half truths.i will not quote the whole article.
"i am contacting your newspaper in the hope that i may be able to puplicly thank the good samaritans who helped me when my truck broke down on the highway just......on date.in my distress,i regrettably failed to get the name of this kind young man from...who went home to get a vehicle that could tow my vehicle back to the city.and than to top it off, drove me to get a room for the night.my thanks are also extended to the hotel owner to drove me to my truck.he gives more praise.......thank you for the opportunity to express my gratitude to all who assisted me to return home safely".

I could write a long list of JW offenses. That is why MT 6:1,2 is so appropriate as Avidbiblereader pointed out. The hypocrites are the ones who need to advertize their good deeds in order to minimize the bad deeds.
Regular people who don't make false claims to be special have no need to do so. We do good and bad don't think much of it.
