World Trade Center, Opinions? Was OK, but great recruitment film.

i thought the movie was well presented.

the drama of the two men trapped was engaging.

the only problem is that it seemed like they were the center of the whole event.

I saw it at one of the "courtesy" screenings for WTC survivors and families of those lost. I still have trouble with anyone, for any reason, using the 9/11 events for financial profit so would not pay to see it based on principle.

In my (albeit non-objective) opinion, the movie is a sugar coated, glamourized Hollywood exploitation of the event that is still affecting many lives and will carry severe ramifications throughout the world for many years to come.

and while I don't agree that it was necessarily a military recruitment ploy, it is another crass bid for patriotism and support of war.

Sorry all, but this movie does help prove there is more to 9/11 than the "official" story the government told you. But then, this discussion isn't about that, it's about the movie.

I didn't care for it. Hero movies just don't impress me.

feeling relieved ... my child is back home, after an extended visit with his uncle, during which he tried to break up our family and force my son to be sent to catholic school.

also feeling grateful... for a special friend who helped me make the right decision about it!

PRAYING.... Is it the answer to eating disorders?

i found that the article on 'young popele ask....do i have an eating disorder?

' in the awake magazine for october 2006 to have worrying advice in it.. apparantly the answer to this problem, according to the wtbts is prayer!

how did psychiatrists miss this for so long?.

I don't see where the article states or implies that "prayer is the answer" or cure for the problem.

It encourages us to "Implore him for insight as to what is behind your disorder so that you can conquer it." It does not say to ask or expect Jehovah to cure it.

This and other Bible-based teachings point out that, through prayer, God can help us find courage, strength, understanding ... whatever it takes --
to seek and choose answers that resolve our problems.

We are the ones who control our own lives and, as the article points out ... often we need to ask for help. It's the help and guidance, but not necessarily the specific answer or cure, that can come through prayer.

I think the article does caution us to make good decisions regarding professional treatment and makes it clear that prayer is not the cure, but can help us focus and take the actions that lead to the cure.

Who would tell 9/11 survivors to just get over it?

maybe the same people who post on this board and tell us to just get over it.

i get so tired of them dismissing our experiences and trauma by saying "why do you have to tear jehovah's organization down?

just get over it and move on!".

As a survivor and eyewitness to the wtc attack, I can assure everyone -- there are many who would and do tell survivors to "just get over it" (and those other statements that sound harsh and hurtful).

In sharing our personal traumas with others, we invite response, and it isn't always what we want to hear ("just get over it"). It doesn't always mean the speaker is discounting or belittling the victim or the event, it's another way of trying to help the victim move through the bad effects (which include obsession and victimization).

Though they sound cruel, these statements can be taken as a kindnes -- it can help boot us down off our "victim" pedestals and... well, get over it ... helping us get on the path back to a healthier, happier place in life.

No, the insult to those who died is the preposterous lies and deceit of the "official story", compounded by a public willing to believe and defend those lies.

The ones who died on 9/11 would want the truth told (at least the ones I knew would). The truth about 9/11 is the last respectful and fitting tribute to our loved ones who died at the hands of government greed and power. To believe and defend the "official story" is showing disrespect for the lives that were lost that day and those that mourn them forever.

Please people, don't let them blind you any longer.

i'm wondering if any of you people think that computerized and new technology is taking away the fun of natural life?.

eg 1. children are behind computers games more than playing in the park.

I agree and apologize if what I said wasn't nice.

It seems people are constantly criticizing and challenging how others live or behave... and how our children are being raised. I guess I got defensive about it.

But you're right, SWALKER. That's why I don't post here much. It's difficult to find nice things on this forum.

Yes, BlessedStar, we do have picnics and love them. We often pack up food and go to the beach or park. We sit and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, talk to other friendly people, share our food with them and the birds. Sometimes we fly kites. Sometimes we take the ferry to New York just to have a picnic in Central Park. It's relaxing and fun.

And no, I don't think technology takes away from natural fun. There's a purpose for everything, it just needs to be kept in balance.
