  i just read paralipomenon's excellent post on wt origins, so i ask - what is the basis of authority in the org?

  knowing the bible - lots of people know the bible.

  being annointed - any annointed person outside the authorities will be told to pound sand, even on the cong level.

  hi folks.

  some of the posts i saw here today put me in mind to ask this question.

  it seems like jws more than most would be or could soon be dependent upon some form of government largesse (medicaid, social security, welfare, food stamps....) far beyond their own contribution to the till, as it were.

  Is the 2 witness rule still "in effect"?

  hi guys.

  is the so-called "2 witness" rule for molestation and other gross deviant sins still in effect?

  an elder i know implied that it was but did not seem able to bring himself to say it.

  New Light Coming?

  hi - i have jw friends (really!

  ) and have gone to kh for some talks and study every couple of weeks.

  things like the new watchtower policy, selling buildings (i am from nyc and know the heights well - that will make a boatload of money), the sex abuse settlements, drop in membership and donations, and some of the changes i have seen in the magazine (the annointed qfr, for example).

  how does wts feel about working for any federal, state or local government?

  i would imagine that would be frowned on, even if it is "non-violent".

  Should You Believe In The Trinity? - Maybe

  hi folks.

  i am new to this board and since i am currently undergoing bible study with a jw elder, thought it would be a good idea to expose myself to other viewpoints on what i am learning from him.. a while ago i read "should you believe in the trininty".

  having had a barely adequate education, i knew a lot of the names of the father's cited therein but had never really read anything they wrote.
