The more people who leave the Witnesses, the more people will leave. True?
by ThomasCovenant inif more faders stopped fading and just stopped,.
would more of the many closet unbelieving attendees just stop too, creating a momentum?.

''Those who are still in, yet know TTATT, are in a wonderful position though to sow seeds of rebellion within.''
Yes, they are in a wonderful postion to sow seeds of rebellion. But fading, by it's nature, means not sowing any seeds of rebellion.
And so it goes on.
Personally I don't think it makes much difference to other witneses whether another person 'fades' or just ups and leaves.
For me, my conscience and personal principles of honesty and integrity would no longer allow me to have anything to do with the religion once I finally realized what it really was.
For others I understand that fading is better for their individual circumstances.

New methods?
by manda63 inhi, had some strange things happen this week that have made me ponder what on earth is going on with the man made organisation.. 1/ while picking up some train tickets i was approached by a young man with an ipad of sorts who engaged me in a chap and then asked to show me a new website i asked what he was trying to sell or promote he assured me that he was selling nothing the website he showed me was jw.org so i quickly said so you are promoting an organisation with a brand name similar to how a christian would promote jesus and the bible he looked confused but then said yes, so i said that i thought that to be quite shamefull, he froze for a bit and didnt comment so i asked is this new symbol a trade mark of some marketting firm to which he said "no we are jehovahs witnesses" no one else was around so not sure of the "we" but anyway i said if god has given us the bible whats with a website that produces snippets out the bible with an opinion on the meaning he avoided the question and asked me what i believed in so i said my religions leeders dont let me discuss belief with anybody so i obey, listen to them and dont question he said "you have been blessed by j with a brain and freedom of thought to look and question" i said ok but i think its strange that you use a name for god thats perhaps made up by man, blindly follow and dont question a group of self appointed men as well as showing signs of idoatory to an organisation that has pushed jesus to one side, at this he suddenly he had to dash off.
2/ when out shopping i was apprehended by a group of people with a stand giving free literature and promoting the jw.org website so i had had to ask whats with this name change after all these years and are you a similar religion to the catholic church which led to a chat about how the catholic religion is false and how they wickedly have covered up sex abuse!
i didnt bite on this one but asked if birth control was banned in the jw.org religion a lady stepped forward and explained that it was cruel and not biblical to ban contreception i said i had been shown a bit in the bible that gives rise to this ban and she said they(catholic church) dont understand the bible and use it to control and miss inform people so i replied similar to how your organisation bans blood and birthdays by misinterpreting the bible i went on to say that i believe the organisation to be hypocritical, false , cult like and shamefull how it covers up sex abuse i also got in that the organisation had totally corrupted its self with its un membership and also with the sheer amount of false prophecy over its relatively short history at which the senior man at the table politely told me if i wasnt interested in the literature to be on my way and that hopefully i would mature enough to let jehovah into my heart before it was to late and that he felt sorry for me and the people i obviously associated with.

he ''asked me what I believed in so I said my religions leeders dont let me discuss belief with anybody so I obey, listen to them and dont question''
That's a good one to say to Witnesses next time I speak to them, thanks.

No, you shouldn't believe in the trinity brochure.
There are inaccuracies in it.

Elders, apostasy and disfellowshipping issue's - thoughts please
by FeelingFree inok so... when i was talking to my mil about why i no longer wanted to be a witness she kept trying to convience me that i needed to speak to the elders.
i said from the word go i didn't feel the need to as my mind was already made up and no one could change it.
i also said if the elders new all my reasons for leaving they would view me as an apostate and i would get disfellowshipped.

''I also said if the elders knew all my reasons for leaving they would view me as an apostate and I would get disfellowshipped. Her reaction to this was that I was very judgmental and of course they wouldn't think that at all!''
If she feels so strongly that the elders wouldn't think that, ask her if she'd be willing to legally sign over the deeds to her home to you if they did, in fact, think that.
Then hold her to it.

my first post! (long read sorry in advance)
by Letts Party inlong time lurker, first time poster here finally looking to get some things off my chest.
i've always been a very curious person with tons of questions about everything, and i also care deeply particularly about societal issues like social injustice, racism, and homophobia.
that, coupled with how boneheaded all the elders in my congregation are (except for one), led me to ask even more questions that led me to find ttatt.. .

Hi.
Keep posting.
''I read 1984 as a high school kid and even prided myself as a fan of this masterpiece. Why did it never occur to me?''
''Believing an organization that claims it is the ONLY path to salvation. Everyone else will be destroyed. That’s what it says in our literature, that’s what we’re supposed to believe! ... In a disturbing way, we have essentially the same message the Westboro Baptist church has.''
I agree.

More Elaborate Celebrations International Conv. Atlanta
by NoMoreHustle infound this video of the entertainment preperation for the delegates in atlanta, u.s. this seems to be professionally done maybe outside sources or probably done by "professional" jw's.
this is just like christendom or all the other religious organizations that they deem to be from the devil.
the people seem to be very sincere in there efforts & is much appreciated,.

Perhaps I'm alone in thinking this,
but I resent the happiness that those 'brothers' are getting from this sort of thing.

I'm out- Random thoughts on leaving as I look in the rear view mirror
by Skinnedsheep init is amazing to look back at three years and see the journey that we have taken.
i went from being an elder to fading completely in the course of those three years.
along the way i am happy to say that my lovely wife woke up and realized that the truth is nothing but a lie.

I agree pretty much with everything you've observed.
My advice too is,
Just stop going.
No one, apart from maybe immediate family, will be bothered in the slightest, that after a lifetime of attending, you decide to stop.
Then you try and get on with the remainder of your life.
I believe that if more people did that, then more would follow.
