  I was at Walmart when i seen a disaster survival kit. Then something came to my mind. Remember all the instructions given about having these kits? Some congregations even had mock drills. Local needs were given about this. Lists of service groups were handed out telling you where to meet if possible. It is really sad to contemplate why they do that. What are your thoughts?

  i talked to a close friend that served with me as an elder for a few years.

  he allowed me about an hour to explain why 607 is not the correct date for the destruction of ancient jerusalem.

  i showed him all the scriptures needed and i showed him the wt magazines that proved it.

  Yes, I don't understand those type of people mentioned in the OP. I told one of my friends all the things I learned about the organization and said I can prove it. He listened attentively and understood where I was coming from. The next day at the KH, he was talking to my wife about someone who was coming into the"truth". I just don't get it. It is like they are sleep walking in the Watchtower.

  I agree with you John, except for that happy 20 year old. He is young. Happy or not, he needs to know. I was "happy", but sure would not want to waste another second in the cult. I believe approach is everything. If you are a believer in the scriptures, and you now have a understanding of what your role is in God's timetable, and you can explain and prove their is no true religion, and explain what "truth" is in the scriptures, then I feel you are in a good position to help. If you do not know who you are dealing with, it can destroy them. You can't just take "the truth" away from a believer in scripture, and offer him nothing. In fact, I am trying to appeal to my mom in this manner. Explaining to her that you don't have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Telling her how much I have learned since I left.

  recently i saw a link to an article from the st. petersburg times (one of these links on the side of this forum to sometimes old articles).

  it was an article about jws and their preaching work.

  imo, middle to favorable.. but the one thing was from a door where the jws are saying they're not here to convert anyone, they just want to share a scripture.. what sort of bs is this?

  I remember making this statement myself and then getting back into the car and saying to my service partner: "Well we are trying to convert them, but we can't let them know that."

  I have to say, no he did not actually come from heaven in a literal sense. This is one of many links that talk about this. For me, understanding this concept has given me a greater appreciation for Yahweh and Christ and has helped me to understand certain Bible passages.

  i have published a new article at watchtower corporal punishment, as a response to the testimony that geoff jackson gave at the royal commission.

  it includes the relevant part of the transcript, along with a string of watchtower quotes to show that what he presented was not accurate, and that watchtower translates rod as a literal implement to hit children with.

  I can't remember which Wt. Volumes they are in but I'm sure i can find them if i search. But i clearly remember pictures of an angry dad spanking his child's bare butt with the child crying. I remember them because my brothers would laugh at this particular picture.

  CO just confirmed worldwide construction halt and possible JW.ORG news of it

  just had the co visit tonight.

  i asked him if he had heard about the worldwide halt of construction besides warwick and to my surprise he said he heard the same thing.

  then he went on and add that also some branches are closing and some bethelites going into pioneering but, "all because of the preaching work now.

  If they finished the projects and then said we will be focusing on preaching, that would not be objectionable. But stopping construction... I think people who work in construction will think it is weird. Besides, laying off Bethelites has nothing to do with "focusing on preaching".

  there were several families that were visiting my mom today and i was sitting in and just listening to all of them talk..

  they started talking about the recent shooting at the university.

  and its so easy for them because all they have to say is;.

  It's funny that we often hear that the witnesses just care about paradise. I don't believe that. It is true that some do, especially the less educated or problem stricken individual. I know people did talk about the hope, but for many of those, the real focus was having love and an awe of the Creator. I know many like myself when I was in, didn't really put faith in the timeline proclamations. We focused on serving Jehovah, and dying "old and satisfied". Many of us "counted our days", wanting to be the best servant of Jehovah as possible. Regardless of what some say, I know for a fact that we would rather study the Draw Close to Jehovah book than a book that just talks about paradise. This type that wakes up, doesn't really have a problem with dying after they leave the organization. Romans, 8:38,39 - "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
