Just got a book: Breakthrough to Enlightenment "Discover the deception behind religion and the occult" My father passed it onto me and said it was quite good. Haven't actually started it yet, will do so at lunch time - I'll go get a coffee and something to munch on and go sit in the warmth of the sun and start.

Should I send this letter to my non-JW cousin who refuses to listen to ANY criticism of our JW relatives?
by nicolaou insome background here; non-jw family members who are overly respectful and protective of the jw's.. i thought i might try a completely different tactic.
what are your views on my letter below?
i thought i'd let it sit with her for a couple of weeks or more before following it up .

Are you really an Apostate, according to the WT ?
by Phizzy inperusing the coverage of the 2013 dc spewings about apostates, the wt claims that apostates are "liars" and speak "twisted things".
this is their definition of apostates.. now, the reality is that sites such as paul's excellent jwfacts.com, books like coc and isocf, by ray franz, the works of olaf jonsson, penton and others, all write what is true !.
we are careful on here to present that which is true, at least i hope we are !.

Do You Believe Gods name is Jehovah and why?
by sarahsmile inmany internet sites claiming that god's names is jehovah.. do you believe it is the name of god?.

If there is an almighty creator I don't think he is too concerned about his name - why would the all mighty creator even give himself a name, surely he would know when people are communicating with him.
The torah or the hebrew scriptures give it as YHWH - and perhaps that was just their take on it and over the years it has morphed. It could be *()^(#_$&_)@&(^#*& for all we know.
Is it important - no.

Nervous / shy following judicial committee
by ekruks ini wondered if anyone else has been rather shy since a judicial committee?.
i have been before more than one on false charges, and since have really struggled not to get incredibly nervous if i have any similar meeting with people, such as a review at work, a job interview, even a visit to the doctors.
i get so uncomfortable, i forget what i planned to say, want to leave, often vomit before such a meeting, forget how to speak up clearly, can't remember my phone number, etc.

Actually it's made me more agressive/assertive - I make sure that I am well prepared for meetings, for interviews. I get my ducks in a row, go over stuff, so that I can speak. I like to speak from the heart and I say so. I empower myself. I will not be bullied into saying things, will not allow people to twist what I say and if I feel they have will make a point to clarify what it is that I said.

All I did was show them from their own watchtower certain things....so no, no twisted lies, no untruths.....let them call me what they want I don't care.
My mother and I were thinking of protesting outside that specific convention. I think it will be held in October - or round abouts then. Going to see if we can rally some ex Jdubs and friends to support us in this effort. (KZN ex Jdubs look out for a thread that I'll be starting in connection with this)

We Are Disgusting!
by LouBelle inso this is a follow up to the thread started regarding the contact that some jw family members made through my aunt.
they wanted funds to put my grandmother (phylis) into an all inclusive old age home.
they wanted contributions from my aunt and mother.

I will definitely be passing on the support to my aunt, I am so proud of her.
Please note that for me, because my disfellowshipment and cutting off was sudden and that I knew what I was risking, losing my family members was worth it - I do not regret my decision. It was the best thing for me. Thus though this incident has made me upset in the sense of anger that they would dare approach my mother and then treat my aunt like that. I really couldn't care about them - They have been dead to me for so long that I don't even register them on my radar.
I have people in my life that want to be there and I enjoy.
Thank you everybody - you are an awesome bunch of people and I am so happy that we can be there to support each other. You guys have really been such a rock.
Big hugs all around!

"The END is soooooo close"
by Phizzy ini notice reported in a number of posts that this seems to a bit of a mantra with the dubbies now, more so than ever in the past.. is this because they are getting desperate for the life they live as jw's to change ?
they don't really want to end their days with the constant drudgery of the jw life still going on, they want something different, but must "wait on jehovah".
sigh.. i wonder if this is a small opportunity for us to sow some small, niggling doubt, why not ask, when they spew out the "it is soooo close" nonsense:.

It was also then said that this whole thing was going to be a suprise?????? Really, so why then would there be a meeting face to face with the grandmother (Phylis) included. We have 2 suspicions, 1. They were trying to source the funds and then move the grandmother into the facility and take the credit for it. 2. That this is/was a setup in order to get my aunt in front of 2 witnesses who would then question her JW status and go to the elders (this JW aunt and uncle were the two witnesses in my JC)
oh and one other thing I am so proud of my aunt for. She told the JW family members that if she as so much hears that her name has been mentioned from the platform or they try to disfellowship her she will sue the WTBTS and the congregation for discrimination (because family will shun her) At this point the JW family member kept VERY quiet.
Go aunt!!!!!
