I always wonder how truefull those numbers are. Here in a small country, the number of JW's is easy to estimate. There is sometimes just one convention.
But then we have a negative growth for some years.

It is dutch & french here what we speak by the way. But I do read the engish publications also. There is room for family members not totally shunning df-ed persons.
I do not understand why some want to be even more strict. But then, there always have been a lot of manmade rules (not the GB man made rules I mean, the CO made man made rules). We had in the early nineties here some rules that only white shirts were allowed for brothers at the stage... Danny -

and i really beleive our species will survive and we will use modern technology(also a product of evolution) to help us because that is what it is there for we made it and we will use it.

First of all, yes I believe in the mind expansion thing. It is called Cyborg. (not like the sf series) It is a serious thing and already worked on in fact. The outlook is that we can have a primitive connection with the brain and an implanted chip in the next two decades.
This could be something like just an extra memory chip, connect the brain with the internet directly. (so you can control things, retreiving information, just by thinking). Very handy.From my study of history I think that the human mind has been the same for about 40 or 50 thousand years. Love, hate, kindness, cruelty, hopes and fears seem pretty constant.
This is true, and I think there is not much evolution at the moment (in the human species). This is because there is almost no natural selection anymore.
But this doesn't matter much. Experimenting with connecting the brain to the computer, or genetic modifications, are mch faster as they are inteliggently driven. -

With all their number crunching and wanting the end to come on their own term, they tried to speed up things by mis-interpretating the fall of Jerusalem in 607, in some sort separating themselves from historical data placing the event in 587(which looked good for a while, they were different). If they hadn't tried so had in early days to speed things up, the generation would've only started in 1934 (+80=2014... giving them an extra 20 years) and we'd still be in the generation. All they needed to do in 1995 was put the blame on Russell and Rutherford explaining these guys ran ahead of Jehovah and voila! No more problems and a renewed hope.
I have to say I do not agree here (sorry). The whole sceme (scam) is based on the date 1914. If they would say, it was not 1914, then it is not 1918 etc etc. Just can't do it. They are too deep in the shit to step out now... Danny

One time I had to do the closing prayer on the midweek meeting. I was just back from holyday, and had an encounter with two chinese sisters the last day of my holyday. When praying I got confused when thinking 'I must not say: O, thank you Jehovah for those two chinese sisters that were in my bed last night'. While confused I did manage to finish the prayer normally without saying that thought aloud.
Later the PO came to me and said: what kind of prayer was that? I did not understand anything, did you speak Chinese?

They needed an image lift in Europe and Africa. Being endorsed by the UN was a big help in getting legal recognition in a couple countries. I don't think they (I'm not sure all the GB even knew) saw it as anything other than "theocratic strategy".
They do have an image problem here, that is true. Ans maybe the though it would help with local tax problems. IN some countries they have problems as seeing as a organisation without profit.

It the WT publications there is room for family to still meet df-ed families. I do not unerstand why in USA it seems that the dubs want to be more holy then the WT says.
Here it does happen sometimes the shunning, but very seldom that parents and children actually do not see them anymore. They can not talk spiritual things though.
