I'm staying with my JW mom. The C.O. visit is this week. They actually live 30 miles from here and so will go home every night. I can't decide if I want to go to a meeting just to mess with them. Don't think I want to go that bad!!

Last night I laughed ssoooo hard at her. She knows I "visit" these sites. She's worried that I'm going to "take something off her computer and share here"!! It was so nice to tell her that there wasn't anything that we needed, seeing how we find out some stuff before they do. She was "shocked" that I said the "we" word. She said that "means that you belong to these places." I throurghly enjoyed telling her it was more like having a REAL family and REAL friends!!!

How have you coped since leaving?

i noticed that many different people have coped in many different ways, i believe this reflects the fact we all have left or been kick out for different reasons.

what have you done since leaving?

have you joined another church, are you athesitc?

When I left the JW's I was like a spring that had sprung loose. I went wild! I've still battled with drugs/alcohol. I celebrate holidays life a kid. My sisters and I were laughing about how we are living our childhood thru our kids. My daughter, and all my neices and nephews have b-day parties out the ass. Not to mention halloween,etc parties.

What has helped me the most is being here, and on a couple other sites. I'me starting to let my guard down. I've had a problem letting people know the real me!

Just take your time!

Witnesses and child abuse

this is prompted by something i read in another thread about jw kids getting beat because they got caught with love letters.

the acceptance of physical punishment within this group is chilling.

"spare the rod, spoil the child" does not mean "beat your kid and leave bruises".

I was one of those victims. Once, I got a valentine in 7th grade from a boy. Not only did I get beat, but also had to suffer thru an elders meeting.

Meeting Clothes

i absolutely hated the concept of "meeting clothes".

all my meeting clothes were hand-me-downs from other brothers.

i always hated getting hand-me-downs from the fat jw kids who were older than me.

I was the oldest, so my 3 younger sisters got more hand me downs than I did. I was into sewing alot back then. That's the only way I had a couple outfits that were decent.

Since I've been back here at my JW mom for a couple weeks you wouldn't believe the amount of clothes(mostly dress up clothes), that I've made her get rid of. She could open her own "good-will store". I've hauled out 5 large trashbags of clothes, and hardly made a dent.She has a small path down the hall you can walk in. Her room is undescribable! Literally clothes on top of 2 dressers to the ceiling. She has a small area to sleep on her bed, the other part is piled SSOOOOO high!!

When we were younger we were allowed to wear pants under our dresses till we got to the KH when it was really cold! Anyone else do that? I think about what mom and ken dressed us in and I want to BARF!!!

plasma exchange in my grandson

to liberal elder: my 10yr grandson has guillan-barre' syndrome and is in icu on a ventilator and the doctors want to do a plasma exhange on him to help the disease to be treated and for him to get well.

it is similar to dialysis and would not require a transfusion.

it is the only way to treat this horrible disease and make him well(hopefully) and to lessen any possible long term effects as this is his 3rd bout in 7 yrs.

I'm so sorry to here about your son. I've been a nurse for many years. PLEASE do whatever the docs want to do. I know you realize how serious this is. Actually--life or death, in a very short time. Feel free to tell me to mind my own business, but this is a subject I'm passionate about. I've had the blessing to be able to intervene twice, when the elders were trying to but in and trying to play the guilty card.

If th elders or any JW's are giving you a hard time, go to the charge nurse and/or the social worker. Explain to them what is going on, or even let them know what might occur. Nurse's can best help if they know what's coming. This is a time when your focus needs to be on your child. Not on worrying about stupid things. I've helped a hospital get guardianship two different times on toddlers that the elders were trying to meddle with. I even had them thrown out of the hospital. The nurses don't mind "kicking out the trash!

Very superstitious writing on the wall

other people have ghosts and goblins and fairy godmothers.. jw's have demons.. demonized chairs, forks, pictures, pages from books, dolls, etc.

etc.. the most aggravating demon related thing my mother ever did was throw away my fantastic of collection of toys from around the world.

i was about 10 and joined something called the kid's explorer's club.

When I was 11 or 12 I was having bad nightmares. My parents and the elder's decided my teddy bear (that I had my whole life) was demonized--so they burned it. Nightmares continued. Wonder if my stepdad molesting me might have had anything to do with the nightmares!!!???? dah!!!

Circuit Ass last weekend

program had 2 symposiums and various other talks.

i didnt take notes... stopped doing that a while ago but i did manage to listen to some of the program.

well in my company there is a jw that doesnt know that i am apostate.

she has given me rags in the past, asks me questions about creation.. .

i always dodge her questions and ask her some bad ones.

Now that I'm back in Misery, oops, Missouri, I'm around my other 3 sisters who left the JWs, too. We were all laughing about the memorial. We decided we needed to go back to the hall we were "persecuted" at for the one night. Then all 4 of us needed to partake of the "emblems". We'd each need a refill on the wine. Oops, forgot, grape juice.

yep, been drinkin' twenty years now and i've finally had enough.

Did something happen for you to decide this? I've had several periods of sobriety. I just got out of rehab 3 weeks ago. Mainly for meth and diuladid. I had to leave where I was to make a clean break. So I'm stuck at my JW mom's for now. But I'm trying to do something for further help. My tx place was a joke.

Would you consider AA/NA? The meetings really do help. When I quit going usually marks the beginning of the end. Talk to people! When you want to use, go to a meeting, pick up the phone, talk to anyone! Even if it's someone here on the board. Don't try and do it alone!
