Because they are thankless lot! They would rather bitch about everything and how horrible everything is. Thanksgiving reminds some how blessed they really are and we all know jw's do not approve of a positive attitude towards life.

If they grabbed a shovel and shoveled their way to someone's door perhaps the householder would be willing to listen to the spiel! I think the Mormons would offer to shovel people out, they are helpful that way.

In my thoughts Cognac, hope you are doing ok.
I don't understand why many of you think this was outrageous behavior for the jw friends, I thought this was par for the course and quite regular behavior on the part of jw's. It is my opinion anyway, from all the stories on the boards and my own experience with jw's when my jw first joined up and I was opposed. In fact it is exactly this kind of story that I relate when speaking about jw's to non jw's who know nothing about the org. To me this IS the cult mentality. This 'religion' regularly breaks up families and causes lifelong hurt and damage to relationships. They do not allow natural affections if it gets in the way of their agenda.
It can be fought and won but is a hellish ride in the meantime. The jw may still stay in but a truce of sorts can be found and life can continue and even be good, not the same but good nontheless. Relationships are never the same once jw's become involved.

get your ducks in a row sooner rather than later legally! see my earlier post on free consultation with a lawyer and there are a few others out there if you Google it, some can direct you to an attorney who is familiar with the jw situation.
I know somebody who went through an ugly divorce and the spouse could not move more than 50 miles away from the original home, then it was 150 miles, the spouse moved just to make life difficult even though the ones really suffering was the kids.
There have been threads in the past where a judge ruled that the kids could not be raised in jw but it was a long hard battle but worth it in my opinion. Good luck.
