Or read "The Demon Haunted World" by Carl Sagan.

anyway, someone finally put up their hand and remarked about how wonderful it was to see that ethiopia had a 5% increase......ya, i guess if you're starving to death, who wouldn't want to hear that paradise is right around the corner.

A comment about "percentage of increase". If a country had three publishers at the beginning of the year, and has four at the end of the year, that's an increase of 25%. So, the country of Insignifinita had a 25% increase, while the US, England, et al, had 0%. See how Jehovah blesses the work in some lands? Shouldn't that inspire us to do more? Hooo eeeey!
this is a book supposedly written by enoch that some say was left out of the bible canon by the early church when it was being put together.. i'm in the middle of it and find it very interesting.
it gets into some fascinating details about the pre-flood world than the books in the regular bible canon.
enoch has a lot of visions which are very reminscent of revelation.
I find it interesting that passages in Jude and in Peter quote from an "apocryphal book" like "Enoch", and still pass the test of "All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial."
The WTBS explanation is that they are quoting from the "original source material", not those books per se; I find this a weak argument, (as are most of their arguments), because if the source material is good enough to quote from, then why isn't this material included in the Canon? Once you start pulling on the strings of the Bible, it starts to become unravelled quite rapidly.

Did you ever see Kevin Branaugh's film version of this play? Great visuals! Derek Jacobi as the Chorus introducing the story, with the sets and soundstages being referred to as to inferior to present the drama in the scope it needs to be told, and then the movie just opens wide, and the best arrow bombardment ever filmed is presented during the Battle of Agincourt. Still get chills watching it. Of course, the last act kind of loses the momentum, but that's Shakespeare's fault....

A man who suffers from violent fits of anger is wired to a device that stimulates the pleasure centers in his brain when he gets violent impulses. The brain decides it likes the stimulation so much, that it starts triggering the violent impulse just to generate the pleasure, and at increased intervals. Then the guy sneaks out of the hospital....
This book was written in the early '70s.
Now I see these methods actually applied. Never say never, if it can be thought of, it can probably be accomplished....

WOW! Does this bring back memories! I was in 5th grade when all this came out. The only ones I don't remember listening to at that time was the Bowie one, I discovered that one later.
I remember Bohemiam Rhapsody being played on a Sunday nite on my old AM clock radio. I kept wondering how long the song was going to go on!
BTW, I always thought Valli was singing "My Eyes of Georgia" "...Like a million miles away from me you couldn't see Hawaii, Georgia. So close, so close and yet so far."
Now, here it is, my son is in 5th grade, and he doesn't listen to a lot of current pop. He likes the Beatles, like his old man. I am making him a classicist early on.
