  i have been studying with the jw for just over 3 years.i have always believed in god and the bible.

  the path my life took ended up with me being a single parent of 4 children.. the jws led me down the path of the "truth".

  my grandmother disowned me and i just couldnt understand why.i was told that satan was lurking round every corner trying to get me away from god.

  When they come around asking just state that you have determined that this organization is not for you. Nothing more. It is none of thier business anyway.

  Excellent advice . 40+ wasted years for me. They are trained to try to draw out and overcome your objections. So they may ask for just one thing. If you don't want the upset feeling of confrontation, don't even open that door by offering any reason. If you appear the least bit unsteady about this, they will be hard to get rid of. BE FIRM!

  Long live the internet. You are another example of why the Watchtower headquarters tells the congregation members to avoid research.

  Elders magically appear today-10 years too late

  so i'm sitting in the lounge and these two guys i've never seen before appear at the door.one introduces himself and clearly knows who i am.

  'witness-speak" means i figure out who he is pretty quick.i have to ask who the silent guy is and then invite them in for coffee and a sit down.

  "no" i say,"my wifes not here but she'll be back in about 10 mins.

  We know there is no answer to that question. You may have planted a seed of 'truth'.

  Number crunching - the impact of the net

  yesterday i noticed that there were at least 3 newbies who signed up and posted.

  almost every day we have at least 1 new person sign up and post.

  that of course doesn't include those who sign up and don't post.. i've read numbers that stated it took so many hours of witnessing to make 1 baptized jw.

  If less time was wasted doorknocking and more time spent helping others in the congregations the growth could possibly be better.

  I totally agree. But, don't forget that they would tell you it is not about growth, but getting the GN preached.

  do you have any sayings/anecdotes/mantras/cliches that help you cope?

  i've heard a few that i employ with my own modifications:.

  i like the "dear dad" letter, though i don't know if my folks would appreciate it if i applied to leaving the org.. "if my mother knew about this, she'd be spinning in her grave.

  Anyway, I don't know if I can take another 6 months worth of meetings. I'm pulling my hair out as it is.

  For the last few years the #2 has been either from a WT or the Bible. It looks like the 2006 school schedule is only from the Bible.

  Journal of C&S blood article translations ok'd for the web

  kerry louderback-wood's article, "jehovah's witnesses, blood transfusions, and the tort of misrepresentation," is presently being translated into 16 languages: portuguese, spanish, polish, norwegian, german, french, swedish, italian, russian, hebrew, finnish, danish, japanese, korean, albanian and dutch.. yesterday, the editor of the journal of church and state gave permission for ms. wood's article to be put on the internet in any language, other than english.

  please note: if in english, this article can not be put on any internet site.. if you would like to translate the article into a language which is not listed above, please pm me.

  We are in the same boat trying to hang on until we can fade.

  The opening prayer --"very few in the world understand about FDS , spiritual food, etc.

  The #4 part was about "Why we recognize sin for what it is", which was completely unrelated to the material covered in the reasoning book. (Well, not completely, but mostly.)

  He used the scripture how all are sinners, but then turned it to the world instead of showing why even JW need Christ's ransom. It is always us vs them.

  Closing prayer--"When young ones make these right decisions (no blood) it reflects well on you, our leader Jesus. Your organization.
