I just feel like I have to stand up for what I think and defend myself if someone is throwing low blows at me
It seems to me that the others are simply doing the same....
hi i'm new to this forum.
i've looked at other websites to and i see all this about the jw's, now i'm not one, i was raised a jw but made my own decision and my parents respected that.
i've read so many horror stories, but my life wasn't like that at all, as a matter of fact, when they first knocked on our door and my mother accepted a study our life changed for ever, it was for the best in many ways.

some of you might remember my situation....i have daed myself a while ago, and my father is the only jw in the family.
since i am very close to him and the family, he has read everything related to shunning, he even asked elders and even them are not sure.
so he wrote a big long letter to bethel to have an answer.
We hope that the previous information will help you to see your question in the light of the holy scriptures.
Thats funny... the only scripture quoted didn't apply to you! The rest was purly rhetoric on how to guilt trip you... none of it's found in the bible!
.
i haven't had access to deer meat for awhile and i'm hoping to find another source.
i'm hoping one of you might like to go deer hunting, or might know someone who does.. thanks!
due to my lack of experience I would likely be more of a burden than a buddy. ; You have to remember, I'm a "city slicker computer geek".
Gotta learn sometime! My husband was born and raised in Keyport New Jersey... a city boy if you every saw one.
It's all in the willingness to rough it. You would probably have to leave the laptop at home

Alaska is one place I've always wanted to hunt. That would be the trip of a lifetime!
We also have caribou... It's great! And all the best hunting grounds in the state are pretty much in my backyard. One of the benefits of living in BFE.

No deer where I am... but my hubbys planning on moose hunting when the season starts. Too bad... there was a moose in my driveway just two days ago!
So if you feel like doing some REAL hunting - let me know! My husband could always use another hunting buddy!
we had him in our circuit around a year ago.
he was a very arrogant pianist/circuit overseer.
he came along when i was starting to have strong doubts and after his visits i had no choice but to pursue my doubts.
That story just turns my stomach. That poor woman... working herself to death because of an ugly guilt. It's true stories like this though... that reveal the slimy underside of the Organization to more an more people.
the travel channel aired a show, "most haunted" featuring the city walks and horribly, macabre underground vaults of edinburgh.
supposedly the poor lived beneath the streets in caves and caverns where robbery and murder took place.
the ghosts said to roam the underground rooms are angry and agressive with visitors, sometimes touching, pushing, or calling their names.
Speaking of that show- I'm a "Most Haunted" addict! I've taken to recording them on the DVR every Friday and watching them at night with my hubby. Sometimes it's just halarious to watch, the host freaking out over every little noise is a hoot, and other times it's just super creepy with their glowing night vision eyes and extreme closeups.
The episode that I liked the best so far was about the Rams Head Inn- spooky!
i don't understand how they could shun me so easily?
i tried to give them everything that i didn't have as a child.
disciplined them when appropriate...so on and so forth.
I was on the other side of the fence for much of my childhood. I shunned my own Df'd mother from the time I was in the fifth grade until I was a senior in High School.
Was it because I hated her? no
Was it because she was a bad mother? no
Was it because I thought she was bad? no
There is nothing my Mom could have done differently in following her own conscience that would have made a difference in my shunning her. She was in a catch-22. She was sweet and kind, and I didn't fear her disappointment nearly as much as I craved my fathers approval (which I have yet to recieve btw). My father was cold, domineering and strict, although we did have some good times.
I shunned her only because I thought thats what I needed to do to keep my fathers love, gain his approval and keep the acceptance of every other person in my life. I was scared to follow my heart.
I hope this makes some sense... I just want you to know, from the other perspective... that it's not you... it's not them... you're all just more victims of the JW Unlove policy. And I can almost guarantee that if you keep loving them just as hard, even if it's from a distance, when they get older they will start seeing things for themselves and you will be waiting there to catch them when they fall.
That's what happened to me... thank goodness my mother didn't believe in shunning when you make a mistake....
i did post this on schne-belly's thread - but thought more may read it as a new topic.
apologies if idea has already been posted.. i think a good campaign would be for us to compose a 'standard' letter (maybe bullet points regarding certain issues, ngo - which the average jw is unaware of - child abuse, hypocricy of mexico / malawi stuff etc.
with quotes from watchtowers if need be, as they seem to carry more weight than the bible does) and each of us to print off several copies and send to selected members of the local congregation - the ones we know / remember as the intelligent thinkers.
If a fader is concerned that suspicion might come their way, ; could someone else send them from a postmark far away after being supplied names & addresses? ; Preferably from a large city.B
If this is something that could be organized, why not put names and addresses into one database and those who volunteer to do so could take so many names and mail out the information. I for one would volunteer to stuff some envelopes and donate some stamps to a good cause!
woo hoo..there is a volcano trying really hard to erupt in my state!!
so cool..it's on an island by itself and is currently experiencing indigestion.
just thought i'd share....i don't look forward to the ash fallout or anything, but it's pretty exciting to see mother nature at work!.
I live up in the Interior, so I won't see any ash. I did see some fall back when Spur went, and that was a pretty cool event too.
My Mom lives in Whittier though, so if the winds shift I'll be curious to find out how much ash she'll see.
