I don't know how people who still have to attend meetings because of family do it. My brain would spontaneously combust after about an hour into the first meeting of the week.

she came home from meeting thursday night and told him they had a local needs about the difference between "willfully" inactive ones and "discouraged" inactive ones.

So this is like inactiveness with "Greed", is it? I wonder which scriptures they managed to twist and take out of context to support this one....

Not allowed to sleep over - is that weird?
by collegegirl21 inokay, so my guy and i have been together for 10 months and we usually are ok together.
but there is something that has been getting to me and i think its unusual, but please correct me if i'm wrong - he won't let me sleep over at his house.
and he hardly ever stays at my house, he's maybe stayed here 3 times in our whole relationship.

Call me an old bit**, but what was that bit about comparing you to a child with a toy?
That was totally my thought too. Treating her like a petulant child? My head would have exploded at that one. I actually had a boyfriend who'd pull the no staying over thing, just like this. We were sleeping together and everything, but he had this thing against staying the night, so as long as he technically slept somewhere else, he was fine. Come to find out, he was Mormon, and although he was being bad according to his beliefs, it wasn't *quite* as bad as if he stayed the night. Strange, but at least it explained a few things....

Reuniting with ex-jws from your home town
by Mysterious inhas anyone had the experience from talking to ex-jws from their home town?
it really is an eerie experience to talk to someone who knows the exact place, circumstance and lifestyle that you do.
even more so than the connectedness of places like jwd.

Although I appreciate everyone who contributes to this board.... I really appreciate those that share so much of their personal lives and struggles. They really put themselves out there for everyone to see, warts and all... and I think that they are very brave and help more people then they know.
But you're all heros to me!

What a stressful situation! Big hugs to you!
When I was a single Mom going through the same sort of thing, trying to find a good job, lots of expenses (goes with the territory of being a parent!) and needed daycare to even *find* a job (I think they frown on bringing your kiddos to interviews). And daycare is SO expensive these days!
I found out that in our area, there is a daycare assistance program that helps low income families pay for daycare expenses so that they can continue to work. It's a sliding scale sort of thing so you pay according to your income. It was a true lifesaver for me at the time!!! Here, it was a program through our Borough, so maybe if you have it available, look through County services?

Lurking has its faults
by RisingEagle ini've been researching prior postings gathering info but mostly reading because i've been 'out' for almost 14 years.
i still have numerous relatives that are still 'in' and when we get together those still in seem to get a sort of kick out of discussing super double secret goings on with 'new light' and changes in the cult.
it's been fun to be able to say, "oh you mean the change in length of the sunday talk?

Welcome to the Eagle family!
I liked what you said about the Chuch you attend and your experiences there. It can almost be fun to attend a Church with real live human beings rather than hypocritical back-stabbing robots. You're right, with JWs it's all about the appearance of perfection, even when it's really all white washed graves.
Great first post! Hope to hear more!

may need some help soon
by Missanna inok so i send my father a letter telling him several reasons i do not believe the witnesses are jehovah's organization.i also told my father at the end of the letter that i was setting some boundaries once and for all.
that i would not be emotionally blackmailed or verbally abused anymore that if he wanted to talk to me as a father then i welcome that and if he can't do that then i do not wish to comunicate with him.
i sent it about a week ago and was waiting for all hell to break loose but nothing happend.

Your reply was perfect! She'll find it much harder than she thinks to find scriptural support without the Society to take scriptures out of context and infer things that aren't meant!

Wife has disassociated, even being shunned by non-jw dad.
by Ironhead inmy wife has only been to one meeting in 13 months, and during this past year, she has been quite the little apostate.
she has been warning her work colleague, our neighbours, and anybody who would listen about the witnesses.
mrs iron has been quite a little star in that area.

Big hugs to your wife! That poor thing!
I'm sure the fact she is finding happiness and her way in life is contributing to the sniping and obvious jealousy from her family. How dare she leave the organization, have a happy life, become educated and confident!?!
Although this has got to be so hard for her, it almost sounds like removing themselves from associating may be doing you and your wife a favor. It's so sad how allegiance to a religion supercedes love of family....

PROOF that the GB lurk HERE ???
by AlphaOmega ina while ago, i posted this thread.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/135699/1.ashx.
in which i said.... this is strange, i read that in 1995 they did away with the "generation" teaching, yet the official watchtower website still says this, over 12 years later !.
thus, all the features of the last days must take place within the lifetime of one generation, the generation of 1914. so some people who were alive in 1914 will still be alive when this system comes to its end.

Although I don't doubt at all that they are reading here... or have minions that do, Web Masters can usually easily find out who's linking to them in their web stat reports. I'm sure they scan those periodically to make sure bad bad apostates aren't using information from their site for their own evil purposes.
