I agree with Satanus. Having been in a situation where a crush/sometimes boyfriend from the hall(while we were teenagers) got in touch with me (I had never gotten over him, he was my measuring stick for all men for many, many years) Well, we were now both single and out of the org. I was scared, anxious, excited, and everything else. Well, that meeting was the best thing I ever did. It cleared my mind and emotions of him forever! Neither of us were the same persons. I let go of the silly emotional hold he had on me. I was free of wondering and free to continue that part of my emotional life.
Good to meet and either re-open unfinished business or finish it. It either stops or completes the needless wonder and imagination.
Hope this helps.

Are The Meetings Hypnosis?
by metatron inhttp://www.energeticsolutions.com.au/great_watchtower_deception.html.
scroll down to the part comparing hypnotic technique.
i've always thought there was something to.

Technically hypnotic or not, my folks are elderly and do not physically attend every meeting anymore so they listen in on the telephone. The expression on their faces and their body postures while listening to the co's talk via telephone gave me the creeps.
I appeased them by agreeing to listen in as well on a visit one time. It made me sick to my stomach to see how they almost immediately visibly changed their expressions and postures while hearing the drone I also heard at the same time. Like getting a 'fix' is the best way I can describe it.
On a positive note. I attribute their current 'more humanness' to the fact they are not exposed on such a constant diet of what the meetings pound into a person. I can actually enjoy them now in small doses. -

You might try taking the first step and start networking. Go to a few places where parents with children frequent (like your neighborhood park and immediate neighbors) and talk with them to collect information and possible contacts. Mention your situation, without sounding needy or looking for a free hand. Different areas of the country are easier to do this in than others, I do not know where you are located.
Sometimes a student can be utilized for a short time and paid at month's end. There are often services that pre-screen the potential sitter.
Social services may be of some help. At least until you become a little more $$$liquid.
Above all else be cautious. Become well informed. -

Depression...
by Alana ini was reading another thread discussing bi-polar disorder.

Having had experience with family and friends either bi-polar or depressed, your friends best bet is to go to a Licensed Psychiatrist M.D. The family doctor or a therapist is not qualified for what sounds like very real and serious issues. You could even help by talking to a few of the ones accepting their insurance and also volunteering to go along for the initial visits.
Take care, as the above is about all you can really do to help... -

First time I had a shark steak a friend cooked it.
He wrapped it in foil with butter, green onions, and fresh garlic. Sealed the foil shut and baked it in the oven.
Great with Beringer Chardonnay!

I'm in love and ... scared !!!
by RAF insorry need to share and to talk about it and maybe in giving me your opinion, talking about your experience, i'll find other ways to deal with it.. .
i just turned 40 (does this have something to do with it) never been scared about the matter ... but now i wonder what kind of love i've really experienced before (any kind of appeals like complicity for instance, the need to share something in particular with someone, the need to give someone some love?
) i dunno for real .... i'm trying to get this out of my head but i can't, i can't, i can't - i'm trying to get interested in other guys but it's just not the same ... and i even wonder how i came to the conclusion that i do love him !!!.

Hi Raf! I could highlight everything you have said and what you are feeling and saying is almost identical to myself.
A few years ago when I was your age I got to the point (after 15 yrs of happy and active singleness following a 10yr marriage to a jw) I wanted someone that I could really care about. Even someone I could argue with and care how they felt, in short, a real partner in life. I sat down and talked to the full length mirror and put it out there what I wanted in a partner, what I needed and desired. The needs were very real and honest. Then I forgot about it. Being very independent and self sufficient I went on with my life and never spoke a word of where I was emotionally.
6 months later, he was sitting in front of me at a gathering of mutual friends. It hit me like a slap in the face.
Enter in all the fears you have described. We found out we had a temendous chemical compatability, which had been obvious to our other friends in common for a number of years.. Well, decision time came fast, there were other men in my life, but I cared how this one really felt. First of all, and probably even more important than the chemical attraction, is the fact that he met all of my needs and desires in a partner! A very SCARY feeling. I felt for the first time in 15 yrs to be out of control of my feelings.
After a few discussions with various people, I went with my gut feeling.
Marriage was something I just wanted, I wanted security from my lover and so did he. We had a beautiful and simple marriage 1 1/2 yrs later and here we are 12 yrs later and very happy, I know I can speak for him as well.
In summary...fear seems to be a part of it all. Know what you want and need from a commited partner. Then just, well, enjoy what comes
