  Trying to find an old picture

  i wonder if anyone can remember a drawing, i think it was in the old children book (pink/orange hard cover if i remember correctly), of babies being offered up as sacrifies to a false god.

  the god looked like a huge chair/alter with flames ( i think) and horns.. .

  I don't have the pic or book, but I think the name of the book you're talking about was something like From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained, written in the '70s (?) if that helps your search.

  I just got access to a HUGE WT library...what do I want to get?

  my brother and his wife (still very much in) just inherited a library of wt publications dating back to the 20's.

  the best part is, it's complete with both the original watchtowers and bound volumes, in many cases there are 2 of each of the bound volumes, which i can have one of.

  i plan on doing a lot of research on here to figure out what all i need...still a "newbie" you know.

  am I free?

  That makes me wonder about something else. When I was preparing for baptism <skin crawls>, I was instructed to call the Catholic church where I was christened and to demand my name be taken off the rolls as a Catholic. I did so, and ashamedly, I was rude <hangs head, skin still crawls>. The church refused to remove my baptismal record. The elders said I was free and clear because I did my best <vomit slowly rising in throat>.

  So. What if I call the dubs and similarly demand my baptismal record be removed? What would they do?

  it's all kon the greek hippie's fault.

  he did give me his 'phone number....and i did say i would call him.. so i did, this morning.

  introduced myself (real name) and proceeded to enquire whether he would like a hope for the future ( the usual crap - life on paradise earth, freedom from sickness and death, wonderful loving neighbours etc, etc,).

  i remember a time when the brothers locked the doors during a meeting.

  if you arrived late, they had to come and unlock the door to let you in.

  i also remember a time when they weren't locked.

  i was reading the post about god's intervention on the last page.

  ( started a new one to be on current page) anyway, the question was wether or not god intervines in peoples lives.

  credited good things to God and bad things to Satan

  That pretty much sums up why extreme Christianity is so attractive to so many--there's a good guy and a bad guy, hence an explanation for everything. Nothing is unknown. It's an easy belief system to adopt if you have difficulty accepting that basic things about our lives and the universe are unknown.
