  after much soul searching, i've decided to abandon this board.

  i have learned a great deal, and what i've read has expanded my view.

  I'm Scared

  before i get started on what i'm afraid will be a lengthy post, i just want to say a few things.

  this may not be the appropriate forum for me to post what i need to say, but i hope that all of you will be understanding and supportive of how i feel.

  i've been lurking here for quite some time and have even been brave enough to make a few posts, so i feel somewhat comfortable expressing this here.. perhaps i should discuss my background a bit before getting to the heart of the matter so you all can understand where i'm coming from.. i am a late 20-something former jw, never disassociated myself but completely stopped attending meetings about four or five years ago.

  Hi FriendlyfellaAl,

  When I left the WT I really felt alone. A few months later I went to an ex-jw convention in Pennsylvania where I met several hundred ex-jws. They were a great help to me. I would recommend that you (and anyone else) go. You will be welcome and loved whether you are JW, ex-JW, atheist, agnostic, or whatever. You will find love that you did not experience in the WT. At the address below you can find information about the convention, program, speakers etc.

  Our American Flag

  doesn't it feel good to not be a jw at this point in history?

  through the fear of the last few days, i do have comfort from scripture about my eternal salvation through jesus (as a witness you never felt secure with god--don't miss a meeting or field service for long or you're out), but also because my husband and i can display our american flag on our cars and in front of our house to support our country!.

  as americans, we will not stand for terrorism and i'm proud to be in this country.

  I agree, just hanging the flag does not in itself prove anything, unless it is backed up with resolve and actions. Stay tuned!

  Showing the American flag demonstrates to the world, and especially to the enemies of our country, that we stand together in unity as Americans. If you are really a JW the only unity you know is mind control.

  LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER

  perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.

  as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.

  since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

  Yes, I remember it very well. When I lived in Muncie, Indiana about 17 years ago a group of elders and ministerial servants would meet almost every day at a restaurant for lunch. One day a witness I was working for at the time (Larry L. some of you may know him) said "I can't wait until we can go from door to door and tell these people 'OK we told you, now it is to late, you're going to die at armageddon'" As the elders sat noticably silent, I said, 'how can ANYONE take delight in telling people that it is to late for them, that they are going to die?' An elder stammered and came out with something like 'well....we don't really..take delight in telling them they are going to die...' I was starting to come down with that dreaded disease "independant thinking"

  Brits: 90% Say Go In With Yanks.

  i thought you folk in the states might like to know how things stand this side of the pond.. sky news interactive showed that 90% of those polled thought that the uk should join with the us military in attacks on countries harbouring terrorists.. the the entrance to the us embassy in london is stacked high with flowers and tributes, the fdr statue in particular has also been similarly honoured.. flags all around the country are at half-mast.. the queen ordered that the daily changing of the guard ceremony at buckingham palace should feature the usa national anthem, this has never happened before at such a nationalistic event.. the famous last night of the proms at the albert hall and hyde park has been restructured to honour the american dead.. it is know that several hundred brits were in the trade centre at the time of the attack.. i just wanted you people to know that your country is by no means on its own in this crisis.

  well they have finally done it.

  they finally took our towers down.. the towers that i used to visit so much as a kid and adult.

  my twin towers.. i was mobilized yesterday as part of the nypd as the city went into it's highest security alert.

  You will note that I put kingdom hall in brackets, you should be used to that, the WT does it all the time. Don't you realize yet that being called an apostate by the Wt or a JW is a compliment to most of us apostates. Thanks.

  Explosion in Dayton, Ohio

  twenty minutes ago, there were two large explosions in dayton, ohio.

  they were strong enough to vibrate my house.

  the local news reported that a plane struck the veterans administration building about 5 miles from my house.
