Undercover, most of the time I hear JW's mentioned in a bar it's the punchline of a joke. But I also have heard similar conversations. One I can recall is an ex-JW talking about 1975, and how it ruined their life.

by Dustin inso i got home from a long day of work yesterday, and decided i was gonna go to the bar and chill out for a little while.
so i'm sitting around talking to some other people i knew, when all of a sudden i see an ex-jw friend walk in.
now he was never great association, but my parents just told me how he was doing so well spiritually in our monthly "why don't you come back to the hall" conversation.

Antonio, take it from a person who has been there before. Those elders are evil men, who will try and make your life into hell for taking one of their members. It won't matter even if you do convert. They will always treat you badly. The JW religion also leaves alot of emotional baggage. You just have to decide how much you love her? It better be alot if you're going to try and be with her.

Funny stuff as he sits and tries to witness to me as he's getting bombed. The classic line of the night was "if you come back they won't treat you any different". I told him that's why I left in the first place. It's funny when a drunk person is telling you how close to the time of the end we are. He keeps saying in his slurred speech "but you know it's the truth". So I asked him if it's the truth why aren't you following the rules and avoiding drunkeness? That's when he got mad and walked away. I also found out his ex-wife became a stripper. She was never great looking, so I'm wondering how that's working out for her. It's funny though because if I would have gone to the bar, and the elders knew, I would have been df'd on the spot. In other related news, about a week ago at the same bar I ran into a MS from my old congregation. He saw me and left in about 10 seconds, without saying a word to me. My how the mighty have fallen.

i mean, i don't know about you, but i remember countless times that situations would develop involving young to old men alike, where me and other non-dub-raised "dudes", would comment that.... what that guy (bro) needs is a good ass-kicking!
i mean a good old fashioned beat your ass whoopin... i mean learn some real "humility" at the hands of your "friends".

Upside/Down, I had to laugh when you talked about getting your ass kicked at JW sports events. One year another elders kid blindsided me while playing football, TWICE!. Now I weighed about 130 lbs. soaking wet, I just had alot of speed. So after the game I don't know what comes over me. I tap him on the shoulder and just spit right in his face. Now this guy is way bigger and stronger than me, and just found it fun to bully me. So he just kicks my ass as the other elders just sit and laugh. After he bloodies me a little bit, I just snapped. (I can take an ass kicking better than anyone I know) So I tell the elders they're stupid, then I call the guy an asshole, spit in his face again, and smoked him in the face as hard as I could. Then the elders say I went overboard. I almost got df'd for it, and I was like 15 years old. That's my experience with JW sports. As the years went by, they stopped inviting me because I was way faster than any of them, and they couldn't handle it.

this afternoon the manager offered me the job and i accepted.

Were your parents control freaks?
by Dustin ingrowing up in the jw religion and having a dad who was an elder, i remember how controlling they were.
i find it amazing now just how much of my childhood i missed out on.
