If This Isn't A Cult----What Is It????
by minimus inthe organization teaches that we leave everyone and everything else behind when we join christianity (also known as the "truth").
your father, mother, brother and sister all have to be given up to become a "real" christian.
friends that you grew up that are not of the same religion must be abandoned.

Its a cult. It really is. There's no softening of it in my mind.. the only thing is that they their leaders have not told them to do anything blatently violent like a lot of phychotic groups that come to mind when we usually think of a cult.

These people are really crazy. An old friend of mine got df'ed while we were in 11th grade for swipping a few pop's out of a machine at school. To this day he is still ostracized.. what a heartless bunch of people, man

It must be the 'end of the world', she saw a bag full of body parts and all. I wonder what the people living through famines in the past centuries thought when they were forced to cannibalize their own children and dig up graves for food?

Great story! Reminded me of "Lord of the Flies" a little.
Really brings back memories, wow. It reminds me of a time in field service, driving around in the back seat of an elder's van with a group of die hard cultist's. They were talking about all of this stuff, cleaning up the bodies, no power or communications with bethel.. and how things would be organized after all of the slaughter and destruction. The scariest thing was that it was all spoken of in a sense of anxious glee. I honestly piped up with, 'you guys are nuts'. They all looked at me for a second, dumbfounded, then laughed in unison, thinking I was joking I guess. It was really freaky.

Growing Old and Dying on the Paradise Earth
by Leolaia inthe standard watchtower teaching about the coming "paradise earth" has, as its most prominent feature, the promise of everlasting life and eternal youth.
this expectation is especially based on such texts as revelation 21:1-4 which declares: "i saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea.
i saw the holy city, and the new jerusalem, coming down from god out of heaven.... here god lives among men.

I envy people who believe that God answers prayers. Ive tried praying a lot but when I see a beach full of dead kids washed up on a shore in Indonesia, I feel like im just talking to the sky.

Why Do You or Don't You Believe In The Bible?
by minimus indo you believe in the bible just because you were raised to believe?
are you sure it's "believable"?
.....have you convinced yourself the bible is just another book?

I really wanted to believe it was inspired after I left the Witnesses. When I did a lot of research on the politics during the time the Bible was written and all the contradictions, the impossiblity of Moses writing the first five books ect. ECT.. I had no choice but to give up my security blanket and come to the conclusion that it really isnt inspired. Its an immensely interesting collection of ancient religious thoughts though.

anyone ever heard of THE RIVER church?
by what_Truth? inevery week these guys come to my door, hand me a couple loaves of homemade looking bread and a bag of beef jerky, then they invite me to a church service held in a community center with the promise of pizza and coffee.
i know that many churches do outreach work, but this goes above and beyond anything i've ever heard of before; especially since these guys look like they could use the food a lot more than i can.
natrually i'm intriged.
