Initially, one might think so, but so many JW's have a mind set that also keeps the whole thing going. How is a person who has a slightly different point of view treated by the rank and file?
Yes, they are taught this through peer pressure [brainwashing], but this attitude keeps it going, so that whatever policies the GB bring in Elders etc will enforce it as the R & F publishers expect them to do so.

Governing Body and rank and file liabilities
by greendawn ini get the impression that generally the rank and file jws are to be thought of as victims whereas the governing body are the real and only villains in this organisation.
.
do you think this is a valid opinion especially when it comes to the elders and circuit/district overseers who willingly enforce the gb's often criminal policies?

Sunday Program - My input
by Flindersgirl inhey all!
i have about 9 million emails and phone messages today..so that's interesting.
aside from having the intial reaction of how horrible i look on telly (which i always have) and my partner swatting me for saying it i was amused to see they only used one quote from what was a long interview.

Applicable music blondie...nice touch.
An elder can pack it in...I did it too. I said that I needed a break. I was pretty full on and intense about the whole thing and had had a gutfull of the BS that is the domain of an elder. Most cant even think how the WTBTS wants them to think, let alone think for themselves, you just get sick of dumb decisions and then trying to cushion it for people who dont really care anyway or would follow like a lemming straight over a cliff......I could go on. -

Aussies Who Missed The Sunday Program...
by Stephanus in.
it will be repeated at 1:15pm today( about 3 hours from now) on the sky news channel, if you have or can get access to pay tv.. .
great show, btw, makes the 'tower org look like a bunch of evil prats.

Yes Miss_MG, that is the thing that makes me sick. The Rank and File believe, thanks to the letter that was read out in 2002 that pedophiles are turned over to the police. I had it said to me then by members of the cong "isn't that good? They will be dealt with properly, by the police". That is the smoke screen that was intended. Yet a simple phone call to the local police tells other wise. The is still "eclesiastical privelege". there is NO mandatory reporting of child abuse for Elders in Australia. I dont think that legal requirement has changed. But all the witnesses believe that the elders will get the police involved.

Hey, nice to see so many ausies having a comment. The show was very good. I only hope that channel nine are able to do some more. There must be plenty of others in congregations other than Cooma.
John Wyngate will have a bit of trouble going door to door for a while you would imagine. He is about to become a victim himself...this time of the WTBTS. Will they back him?
What about the courage of those victims?... They are all legends -

So how do I do this & get it right?
by Why Georgia intomorrow i will be mailing my special do not call, come by, or mail our family anything letter to new york.
i was told i should also send the same letter to all the local congregations we were once affiliated with.. i did this when we lived at our old address and the letter to the local kh came back returned for having no mailbox.. so how am i supposed to get the letters to them?.
any idea's?.

I am not sure what it is like where you reside, but most congregations that I know of have a mailing address the same as the PO's...his home address is the official address for the congo. You could chain Rottweilers to the front gate...

Field Service is a Farce
by swiftbreeze ini touch on this subject in another post but i felt the need to take it further...back in the day jw's went out in fs but i don't know about today.... i live in a big city....the territory my congregation has is small because there are so many cong.
here.. our bookstudy only had maybe four blocks at the most to work.
my ex husband and i would go to the meetings and hear talk about fs and all the wonderful and experiences and the joy oh joy in being out in the ministry.

"I've done quite a few parts/experiences at the assemblies: Everything is cached by the Overseer, and he will make you exaggerate to "encourage" people" I too have seen this happen a few times. Spice the experiences up and exaggerate them. Make them more interesting. Why doesn't the DO or CO just hand some one a script of what they want them to say? As we see and I do/have done it too, exaggerate field service report, its all BS, so why shouldn't the experiences be too?

Question for those raised a JW
by New Worldly Translation ini was wondering if anybody feels like i do that if i hadn't been raised a jw i would never have embraced the religion.
i know it's easier to say in hindsight after i know the truth about the org but honestly i don't think i would have given them the time of day.
i'm not a religious person or even a spiritual person and being a jw always caused a conflict in my mind.

I dont even give the pay TV guys a fair go, or the seventh day adventist any money, although he may get a bonus this time round....... I dont think that I would be all that religious, my cousins aren't and that is how I could/should/would have been raised.
