  hi guys and gals....... .

  i would just like to extend greetings to all those poor souls who had to endure the torturous childhood of growing up in a strict jw lifestyle as i had.

  i didn't know that there were such forums on the net, and i was made aware of this by my sister who is also a member here, i believe.. i find this kind of funny really.

  During my two trips to Bethel in the early 90's. MR. Coffee

  their was this guy that we saw on the sidewalk yelling things at the witnesses that were walking by.

  they called him mr. coffee.

  rumor had it that the demons wouldnt leave him alone unless he did this everyday and that his wife was a reg.

  counsel from elders

  how many have had elder give u this counsel(or if /were an elder given this counsel):

  "its come to our attention that u were(fill in space with anything that is up to your own conscience that is ok in wt world such as pg-13 movie, certain music, or choice of entertainmen).

  this has offended the conscience of others" then proceeds to counsel u to cease and desist so as to appease the other persons conscience.. isn't this a case of the sensitive conscience forcing me to abide their concience even more so than they claim im offending theirs?

  bothering someone else's conscience boils down to, it irritated my old b**chy wife who always wants me to meddle into other people's business. I swear they live their lives like a SOAP OPERA!!!

  They always counseled people against watching soap operas, you don't have to, they literally LIVE THEM. So and so did this... let's talk about it, let's talk about them... let's cut them off.... now let's do this.... etc. It's all a bunch of dramatic bull*hit.

  I will become a naturalized citizen tomorrow. I applied almost 2 years ago and finally have my oath ceremony date.

  I will however always be a Canadian at heart, although tomorrow this piece of paper will change my status.

  It's weird though because after 9/11 if you get married and you're not a citizen, you're a "resident alien" as I have been for 23 years you CAN'T change your name based on marriage. You either have to become a citizen or you have to go to court and legally change your name, but a marriage certificate only won't do it. So after tomorrow I can finally do it.

  It was surreal. Your impressions of the "Monthly Awake!" service meeting?

  at our service meeting the conductor of "more emphasis on the bible!

  " (the march kingdom ministry article discussing the monthly awake!

  ) routinely asked the questions, comments were read from the paragraph and there was a rediculous emphasis on the scriptures cited, even to the point that wt references were given that had nothing to do with the subject.

  I like the comment about the sister wanting to actually write down the references. It reminds me of my mother who keeps all her notes from assemblies and all her bookmarked pages, etc. She has 30 years of WTS publications and if anyone could have a Watchtower degree it would be her. It's hilarious now when I think of the time and energy spent. It's not like she can even use any of it to get a job.

  man i hate the predicament that this religion has put me in.

  i love my mom so much and to hear her cry is the worst thing in the world.

  it's so frustrating when she thinks that things are so bad b/c i'm dfd.

  I know it's painful, but I feel the same as Valis, the ball is in THEIR court. They have abandoned you and use the religion as an reason/excuse. They've basically dropped you out of their life.

  Parental abandonment is so difficult to understand, and it sure doesn't make me feel like going back. It shows me what a wacked religion it is that seperates families in the name of God.

  There will be good days and bad days coming up. Try to find some older friends, that helped me. I made friends with some older women that kinda "mothered" me and gave me advice when I needed it. You can build your own family out of friends if you reach out to people.

  It hit me pretty hard last fall when I was getting married and the florist asked me about ordering a mother's corsage and it literally pained me when I had to say "my mother isn't coming, no corsage thank you" even though she lived in the same town. I had no mother to talk to about picking out dresses, or having lunch with, etc.

  We're here for you though anytime you need it!!!

  i'm a jw still, and i'm new on this forum.

  here's my question: if the faithful and discreet slave is a messenger for truth why is the only mention of them in the bible in the form of a parable?

  why only one time(in two parallel accounts)?

  Because the Holy Spirit doesn't publish magazines and collect donations to support a billion dollar publishing company.

  If you prayed and believed that Jehovah God worked through the Holy Spirit and communicated with you directly, you would cut out the MIDDLE MAN!

  I'm soooo pi$$ed.....need help..

  i hope someone can help me with this one............................ i finally got the money together to take a holiday to see my sister out west.

  i also booked this flight to have my son come along with me as he has never flown before...he was soo excited and so was i.we planned a 8 day trip for the march break and planned on finally seeing the mountains and checking out the biggest mall in the world..... we booked our flights and used my debit card to purchase the tickets and 10 hours later, the company we booked the tickets with ( jetsgo) went bankrupt!!!!!!.

  That is another reason why I ALWAYS use a Credit card like Visa on major purchases, they can take the money back.

  i realized today that jws aren't unique, almost everyone is searching for the fountain of youth.

  there are more plastic surgeons and medicines and elixers, drugs, herbalists, and religious nuts all promising the same thing.... youth..
