And this all ties in neatly with David Icke's theory that we are in fact being ruled by lizards!

demons in Watchtower drawings
by what_Truth? inback when i was a good little faithful dub i never read apostate literature.
however, when i brought a school friend of mine to a district convention he picked up a pamphlet from this really crazy looking apostate guy (you know the type, wild eyed brown trenchcoat, sandwhich board, yelling "the watchtower is a ssssnnnnaaaarrrrreeee!!!
through a megaphone).

Sure-Fire Salvation
by Farkel insure-fire salvation.
in noah's time, god "regretted he made man, so he murdered the entire planet, save one drunk guy and his family.
what kind of a god "regrets" his own handiwork and cannot find a better and more humane solution to rectify problems other than the very-human and simplistic solution to wipe them all out?

Farkel - some excellent points and pretty much why i have bought out of religion.
Do you remember those drama tapes from the conventions about the ten commandments, well I loved those. I can even do impressions of the geezer who played Moses and sounded, well German to me and the little girl who "I'm thirsty momma" when escaping from the Eygptians. But I always used to think wasn't it kind of mean of God to send down flocks of quails for the moaning Manna-sick Israelites to eat and then choke them to death on the meat. I mean how cruel! And when the sons of Korah Dathan and Abiram who spoke out against Moses got swallowed up and the you could hear the earth cracking open. I mean how loving was this God?
Nah I don't want anything to do with that bully!

whattruth - you can view the pics or at least some of them here:

To be fair I found most of them pretty unconvincing but then again there were some that are very convincing or hard to explain!

I still think it might be the truth - what is wrong with me?
by slimboyfat inapostate literature - i have read the lot.
you name it - c of c, gentile times reconsidered, thirty tears a watchtower slave, the orwellian world of jehovah's witness, apocalypse delayed, and the freeminds and watchtower observer sites, so on and so on.
and i have been reading the posts on this site regularly pretty much since it started, and hourglass before it.

Slimboy - I know exactly how you feel. I still get pangs of guilt being on here, despite what I know in my head now. Its taking its time to sink into my deepest recesses and I do think, well maybe the UN thing wsn't all that bad, blah blah blah.
What I find most useful is to remind myself that whether they are right or not is not why I left and focus on that. I left because I decided that I would rather die than worship a petty manipulative egotistical sadistic murderous torturing God. So whenever I find myself getting that sickly feeling I just remind myself that actually I don't care. What was your reason for living? Are there no significant factors at all that would make you not want to be part of their religion on the remote chance that after all their mistakes they could still be directed by God?
I've made my bed and I'm going to jump up and down on it if I want to!
Give it time, I am. I don;t know how long you;ve been reading here, but I'm quite new. I read the books like COC and ISCF and they still didnt make me think it wasn't the truth. But any rational reasonable person who had not been indoctrinated day after day after miserable day can see the holes straight off and is incredulous that its not so easy for you or for me.
Good luck - I know how you feel. I feel the same. One day we might be free mentally as we are physically.

Was it worth meeting with the judicial committee?
by 24k infor those of you who met with a judicial committee and were subsequently da'd or df'd, was it worth the time and effort?
did the elders let you speak your piece, or were they only interested in hearing that key word or phrase that would allow them to act?
was there genuine interest shown, proboing questions asked, did they really want to know how you felt?

Thank you Namasti - with the help of this board, I am getting over it. I no longer feel a worthless piece of crap anymore, so feel I'm making great progress. The challenge will be to maintain a modicum of modesty now, and not start feeling all superior to my parents and sisters. I was once like them, but then its hard not to feel angry - after all my parents were my parents and they should have known better! What were they thinking, I cannot imagine!

What do you think this "nondenominational prayer" is? Would that be the one to protect pedophiles/child molesters from justice that the JWs seem to share with their estranged sister the Catholic Church?

Disparaging Terms
by Blueblades in"apostate" is the most hateful, disparaging term in watchtower vocabulary.. yet, on page 15 of the dec.1st, 1984 watchtower they say,"it would be unscriptural for us ( wbts ) to use disparaging terms when referring to ones who do not share our belief.".
talk about hypocrisy!
when anyone calls you an apostate, point them to this wt.and watch their reaction.. blueblades

I always thought "disgusting thing" was pretty disparaging! But then it's from the bible, so maybe it is unscriptural of them to teach not to use disparaging terms to describe unbelievers as the bible is full of them.

I was so traumatised I find I have no memory at all of attending them. I know I was there and I know what happened, but i don't remember it. It's just blank. And no I was not on drugs!
The last one I didn't attend. I just told them to do what they had to do. I could have gotten away with it as it was a minor slip up of smoking a cigarette, which I rang and told them about. I was deeply sorry, it happened on the night of my reinstatement in a moment of weakness and I just felt I didn't deserve to be back in and finally stopped going to meetings.

Isn't Guy Pierce the Aussie actor with the chiselled cheeks used to be in Neighbours and now does movies like Memento?
