  DID OUR PARENTS REPLACE BIRTHDAY OR CHRISTMAS GIFTS WITH ANYTHING ELSE?

  what about it...i know for me i got gifts throughout the year but i didnt get as many as my friends did on their birthdays etc....what about you...do you or did you replace b/days and christmas gifts or celebrations with anything else whilst being a jw and in particular anything as personal....

  What obligation do you feel towards your family who are still in?

  everybody's situation is different, of course, and everybody has their own choices to make.. but do you recall that when we were dubs, we were constantly urged to go out in service, because people needed to hear what we thought was the truth?

  they would use that scripture by paul, "i consider myself a debtor to all men" etc.

  to enforce the moral compulsion to go door to door.. now that we know the truth about the truth; how obliged are we to tell our family?

  I feel obliged to my parents to treat them with respect. But that in no way means I have to respect their religion. They have their belief and I have mine.

  Do you see or hear of any new Kingdom Hall constructions?

  it's been a heck of a while, since i've heard of any kingdom hall construction.

  i remember back in the late 80's, almost every month, there was a new kingdom hall being built.

  when I first moved to Indiana I found that my apartment was just down the road from a kingdom hall. This hall seems to be fairly busy and looks like it has at least 2 congregations there. But the funny part is that the town I moved to has had a population explusion with the pop. growing from about 9,000 in the early 80's to about 54,000 now, but there is only one little kingdom hall. Tons of huge churches are being built here but only one tiny kingdom hall that looks like it seats no more that 250 people.

  i used to love break time.

  especially if it was afternoon service, and we stopped at taco bell.

  i used to be damn good at eating tacos in the car without spilling anything.

  i just wonder if any here from an area, say within 100 miles of fort wayne indiana interested in getting a small informal group together?

  i have not been able to find any xjws in my immediate area.

  i have gone to the meetup sites - still nothing.

  How long since you been out in service?

  it must be about 13 years since i went out in service.

  about 15 years since i went out a couple times a month, and about 18 years since i went at least once a week.. i just can't imagine going from door to door anymore.

  but to think that we all did it for quite awhile.
