  Sunday's WT study

  i need some information, and i hope that someone on this forum can help me.. yesterday, my mother in law was telling my wife about the wonderful wt study yesterday morning.

  apparently, it was the one where they discuss the annual report for last year.. she mentioned that the article pointed to a 30% increase in baptisms.

  since we don't have the article, we have no idea what she is talking about.

  I see where there was a refund for crude oil overcharges in the amount of $7,787 for oil purchased August 19, 1973 - January 27, 1981. Thousands (87,000) have applied and received such refunds. These are not commodity trades.

  The number to which you are referring is the total Management company's assets. Which Fund is the WT the holder in? It would be good if you could provide a symbol for the individual fund or portfolio.

  Do You Feel Better Since You Stopped Meetings?

  so many witnesses have been ill. i'm not talking about the flu or a cold, either.

  many witnesses suffered from ailments that were not necessarily common to most people.

  i know of jw's that had to literally run out of the meetings every week because they said they were allergic to perfumes and different scents.

  I was asked by the PO when I told him I was in no hurry to return to meetings "What about your spirituality?" I told him it was the stress I felt at the meetings that affected my spirituality not the lack of attendance. He didn't have a response for that.

  Special Talk in April

  every year there is a "special talk" given around the end of march or april.

  having heard dozens of them over the years, i never quite figured out what was "special" about them.

  certainly no "new light" or anything ... just ... well .... the same stuff.. am i correct or not in my observation ???.

  Where I've worked people who didn't yet know I was a Witness would see I was different by dress and conduct. Or when I didn't join in on birthday or holidays they would ask if I was a Witness and then comment on other Witnesses they knew. It was only a rare occasion when something negative was said. The universal comments were usually about not celebrating holidays, no flag salute, no blood or knocking on their doors early in the morning.

  i read the newspaper every morning, but this morning it hit me like a ton of bricks..... i've checked the fresno bee website and the story is not there, so i will try to scan it in and send to someone to post....any takers?.

  ex-church elder accused of molest..... visalia, ca...a 38 year old visalia man who was a leader in a local congregation may face up to 16 years in prison on charges of sexually molesting a 12 year old congregation member..... louis anguaino served until last year as an elder at the kh of jw on 5310 caldwell ave. he is accused of continuous sexual abuse over a two year period of a girl who attended the same congregation..... .

  i was always amazed by the certain elders that really got into giving heavy counsel, while, they themselves, needed to take their own advice.you know, the elder that always picked on the families that weren't perfect, and was the first to volunteer to give the local needs talk on how to bring up your kids.

  meanwhile, the elder's own children were smoking and dating "unbelievers".

  and i always smirked when the theocratic ministry school overseer gave tough counsel on timing and the use of word-whiskers and pronunciation, while always violating his own criticisms............what drove you crazy??

  Minimus, the elder in question was the TMS overseer and my question was related to something under his oversight. I was actually surprised when he wouldn't respond before knowing if I'd asked the PO.
