Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.

John 1:1 and Watchtower Society
by UnDisfellowshipped ingod, in his nature, is eternal, immortal, and almighty.
how can he share in that same nature and still not be almighty, eternal, or immortal?.
god is almighty, eternal, and immortal because of his nature, because of who and what he is, his essence.

From the NWT:
"All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence."
If Christ is just "a god" and a created one at that, how could He have created all things?
BTW, there is no "other" in Colossians 1:16. Also, there is no "other" in Philippians 2:9

I meant the Appellate court.
As I understand it, the case brought to the Appellate court was brought by 38 mothers of about 150 of the kids.
That Appellate court can only rule as to those 150 kids.
Or, at least, that's how I understand the court system.
It seems to me that the Appellate court has taken upon it self something that was not brought before it.
The 38 mothers can only bring action as to their own kids. Yes?
Or did those 38 mothers sue for other peoples kids as well?

In the USA all retailers, of any kind, have to accept cash.
So as long as I'm alive this will be a cash society, at least in my neighborhood. -

Who really are the Apostates?
by Honesty inanother discussion board has a thread that discusses the 'faithful and discreet slave' and asks some very probing questions of the jehovah's witnesses who post on that board:.
http://community.beliefnet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19635.
a couple of days ago, several jehovah's witnesses who had previously posted replies began to post comments that they weren't going to respond to questions presented by the thread's originator because he left jehovah and is an apostate.. other posters who are non-jw have been responding to the jw's and asking them some very disturbing questions regarding paryer and shunning.. it appears to me that the real apostates on that thread are not the former jw's or never have been jw's.. .

It depends on who's definition of "Apostate" you're using.
The WTS will tell you an apostate is anyone who was once a Witness but now is not.
The Bible meaning of apostate is one who once knew and loved God but has now turned away from God.
Many ex-witnesses have not turned away from God and therefore are not apostate. -

I don't understand how the court that heard the 38 mothers of 150 children can rule on the other 250 children.
Normally a court can only rule on what is before it. -

Does the Watchtower no longer consider the Bible to be infallible?
by Fatfreek ini believe the following quotes (2005 wt cd library) from watchtower publications may be last that reference the bible as infallible.
*** w01 5/15 p. 6 gods permission of suffering nears its end ***.
moreover, jehovah gods infallible word, the holy bible, shows that we are living in the last days of human rule independent from god.. .
-
bob1999
I don't think they ever thought the Bible was infallible no matter what else they say.
In some ways they deny the deity of God as much as they deny the deity of Jesus.
The Watchtower, April 15, 1928, p. 126
"Sometimes a member of a class will refuse to engage in the canvassing for the books because there are some mistakes in the books, and says his conscience will not permit him to put books in which there are mistakes into the hands of the people. Of course this is another method that the enemy adopts to confuse the minds and furnish an excuse for not being faithful to the Lord. As every one knows, THERE ARE MISTAKES in the Bible and there has never been a book written yet that is perfect that has been written by any human hand."
Here they are denying the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible was not written by man, but by God. If not then we, as believers, have nothing to believe in.

Did Jehovah's Witnesses ever claim they were inspired?
by slimboyfat injehovah's witnesses insist they are not false prophets despite making false predictions because they never claimed inspiration.
but is that true?
well most of the time they seem to have been careful only to claim divine "guidance" or that they are "god's channel".

bob1999
"Jehovah's Witnesses insist they are not false prophets despite making false predictions because they never claimed inspiration."
I'm not sure that's the point.
Deuteronomy 18:22 says if a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord...
All the Watchtowers used to say "...this magazine builds confidence in the CREATORS promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away."
So there you are. The WTS has given prophesy in the name of the Lord (in the CREATORS promise) and that prophecy did not come true.
So they are false prophets, plain and simple, according to Deuteronomy 18:22. -

Does the Watchtower have any Credibility left?
by JH indid the watchtower ever have any credibility, and if they did, when did they lose it?.
-
bob1999
"...when did they lose it?"
I can't understand how the WTS has any credibility after the generation change of 1995. -

Jesus as Mediator
by One true Jesus Freak ini'm learning my way around the board, i did use the search feature, but i was not able to find what i was looking for exactly.
my question is, at one time jw were taught that jesus was their mediator, then later they were taught that he is not.
what is the current teachings of jesus being mediator?
-
bob1999
"Only those in their "heavenly / anointed" class are considered to have Jesus as their mediator."
I would add that, according to the WTS, only the 144000 are part of the new covenant.
I can't find (in the Bible) how anyone can have salvation without being part of the new covenant.
If Christ is not one's mediator then they are not in the new covenant. If you're not in the new covenant then you're not a Christian.
So according to the WTS, the R&F JW is not a Christian. Only the 144000 are Christians.
I don't think the R&F JW understands this.
