The Last Days?
by ozziepost intoday's issue of time magazine bears the front cover headline "the last days of the taliban".. the urgency of these "last days" is re-inforced in the magazine's articles by the use of words such as "final reckoning", "last sanctuary", "rule unraveled for good", "endgame".. words and phrases such as these may seem familiar to regular readers of the watchtower magazine which regularly describes the present time as being the "last days" of this "system of things".. interestingly time describes the "last days of the taliban" as occurring just two months after the commencement of the "time of the end" for the taliban.. i wonder how many witnesses will give this some thought as they consider the watchtower's latest declaration of urgency for the last days of this system of things.
at what stage will these "last days" cease to be the last days?
can they last 100 years?

JW/'Heretic' interpretation of 'Lazarus in Hell'
by Rev B inapart from my biblical belief of a resurrection of all ever borned without conditions, the philosophical look on the fall of man, differences in the endtimes and anti legalistic views, i'm jw to people although i'm really a biblestudent.
a guy on another board filled with 'heresy' asked me of a jw interpretation of the lazarus story, maybe some will like this; .
nothing in old testament back up either immortal soul or torment in hell.

Who the heck was Arius?
by Will Power inre: previous discussions about the should you believe in the trinity brochure.. i found it surprising that the "truth[tm]" about the history of this little doctrine just plum forgot to include any reference whatsoever to arius, one of the main characters in the story.. there is much to read on this guy & his movement.. arianism - a heresy of the early christian church relating to definitions of the human or divine status of the person of jesus christ, was the first important doctrinal difficulty in the church after the legalization of christianity took place under emperor constantine i. .
arius was a priest of the catholic church in alexandria, egypt.
in a.d. 321 he was condemned by a synod at alexandria for teaching a heterodox view of the relationship of jesus christ to god the father.

CULT CULT CULT
by minimus ini have read many opinions about jw's being a cult.a dictionary describes cult as a system of religious beliefs and ritual .. some have viewed even major religions as a cult, such as the roman catholic church.based upon webster almost anybody or anything that is viewed as ritualistic could be said to be cultic.when someone tries to negate jehovah's witnesses by using.
the "cult" word, i believe they are not seeing that many others could legitimately be regarded as a cult or at least "cultic".therefore the word loses alot of meaning.
some have said that the watchtower is a cult because of the control factor.

Christendom basically has it right!
by Amazing ini saw yadirf's post (formerly friday on h20) barking about how christendom still has it all wrong regarding the trinity, immortal soul, all going to heaven, hellfire, jesus dying on a stake and not a cross, etc.. it is obvious that such people as yadirf have never visited a regular mainline church or he would not make such absurd claims, the very same idiotic claims touted by the watch tower lying and deceit society.. most christians and christian theologians do profess the trinity, in varied forms, but it is not a matter of salvation to accept it.
likewise for the soul, hell, the cross, etc.. genuine everyday christians are far more concerned about living a christian life, doing good, and following jesus.
they do witness, though informally as the spirit moves them ... which is a far more caring, considerate, and successful method then the watch tower door-to-door system.

Witnesses Not Budging on 1914
by stevieb1 injust attended the sunday of the zealous kingdom proclaimers district convention in manchester, england and during the final talk we had an update on the world situation as it relates to jehovah's witnesses.
the speaker was peter ellis, a member of the london bethel branch committee.. he stated that many had been waiting for armageddon for some years and some have become disappointed that it hasn't yet arrived, and that newer jw's did not seem to have the same degree of faith as some of the old-timers in the faith, hence this was of serious concern.
then he said something along the lines of 1914 being set in stone and that the organization was not going to get any new light on this key doctrine, hence we can be sure that armageddon is very near.. interesting don't you think?

How could I have believed it all? - response
by Lady Lee inthe "blame the victim" thinking that ex-members experience is common among all victims of trauma.
in fact we live in a society that is filled with this mentality.
and we were a part of an organization that reinforced this thinking every time they blamed the rank and file for the borg's mistakes.. the effective use of mind control techniques is not dependent on a person intelligence.
