it was morbid, but wanted to share what she said.
When I go, it's cremation. I told my daughter and I preach this to others.......why give all that insurance money to the Funeral Home when creamation is a fraction of the cost. Keep that insurance money for your family. Also, there are a lot of people without insurance but their kids want to show face so to speak and they go all out for a fancy casket and funeral. Then they have to struggle to pay for it themselves. Kind of rediculous if you ask me!

today my mom called me three times at work to tell me how "worried" she was about my spirituality.. i so wanted to tell her some ttatt but just said, "mom, i am fine spiritually.
if i am ever in trouble spiritually, i will tell you.
meanwhile, i would really appreciate it if you left my relationship with god a private matter.".

that juror now faces a possible contempt of court charge.the trial of a man involved in a high speed crash that killed a prince george's county police officer last year ended in a mistrial.. one of the jurors told the judge via email thursday morning that judging others was a violation of her religion as a jehovah's witness, news4's prince george's county bureau chief tracee wilkins reported.. kevon darnell neal, 23, was charged with vehicular manslaughter and fleeing and eluding following the death of officer adrian morris, 23.. morris and his partner were pursuing a stolen silver acura when their cruiser ran off interstate 95 near the powder mill road exit in august 2012. morris died after being ejected from the vehicle.
I hope that juror is held for contempt and fined the amount that it cost the county for that trial. That should set her back quite a bit. And her KH and the society won't pitch in a penny. That' why they say that it is up to the individual. Bull crap!

We had quite a few of those in the Pittsburgh area along with organized square dances in the 1970's and 80's. It all came to a halt when the new CO Ken Alms came to town. He was like the old west sheriff who came to town to clean it up. He put a stop to everything. So what did the young JW's do? They still went out but now they were around nothing but "worldly' people. That move by the society probably drove as many people away from the "truth" as finding out how twisted all their doctrine is. The TATT (truth about the truth) for those who didn't know, is a wonderful thing.

i am sad to report that while being treated for various ailments in an atlanta hospital for eight days, cynthia franz died of massive heart failure on december 29, 2013. .
cynthia franz comes from a very large, loving, close-knit family.
they have decided to keep cynthia's funeral arrangements private.
Two very wonderful people ........as you are too Barbara.

jehovah's witnesses was one of the first religious organizations to enter the broadcasting field.. in 1923, the international bible students' association (as it was then called - the name 'jehovah's witnesses' waa adopted in 1931) bought the equipment of radio station wdt (see page 1) at stapleton, staten island, which the ship owners radio service was shutting down.. .
I remember the old broadcasts from the 1970's into the early 1980's on WEDO in Mckeesport,PA.

2013 was a record breaking year for firearm purchases.

but i support that right for others---if they are qualified..
I used to have a deer rifle and a shotgun but sold them since I do not hunt anymore. I hunted from the time I was 12 or 13 with my Dad and continued even as a JW. Now I have handguns for personal protection and a legal concealed carry permit. I've been trained on their proper use! I'm also an NRA member and proud of it. If anyone kicks my door down and gains access while I'm home, they will most likely be carried out in a body bag.

i often see comments by ex-jws that would suggest some men still view themselves as "head of the house".
sometimes comments from women appear to support the idea as well.. how many still see things this way or have you completely got over it?.
Years ago in my old KH, a senior brother answered a question and mentioned about the husband being the head of the house. Before he was even finished, his wife's hand was up and the bro on the platform called on her. He comment was....."The husband might be the head but the wife is the neck and she can turn that head anyway she wants." Everyone had a good laugh and enjoyed that comment. Sorry that they are now gone, but they were really good and down to earth people.

it keeps evolving.
sometimes it is the place to be and i think that's especially true for newbies.
It will be 10 years in May that I have been on this site. I don't post like I used to buy coming and reading everyday keeps me informed. The religion has changed so much since I left 13 years ago. Regardless...it is still a cult.
