Hello Everyone . . .(Questions)

this is my first post here, though i have been browsing these forums over the last week for more than a few hours.

in the interest of full discloser, well as much as anyone would on a public forum, i?ll tell you about me.

i was raised as a witness, and have no real horror stories to tell.

Hi frobisher, welcome to the board...

In my opinion... I don't think you can make sweeping generalisations about the people on here like 'united by hatred'.... whilst there is definitely an element of hatred on this site, if you look into the backgrounds (of the people that have shared them) of those that are openly critical of the WTBTS, you would understand their positions more. Hatred works for some, as it's a means to channel energy - for me... I'm not wasting any more of my life devoting time for anything to with the organisation, serving or hating!

There is also a hell of a lot of healing on this site - having 'down' days or sharing sob stories doesn't mean you are making yourself a victim or whining!! Knowing that there are people who understand and empathise with you is a big help. And as you know, no-one here is afraid of letting you know what they think, so it can be a real kick up the virtual butt when needed!

Is it wrong for the hated apostates to hate the organisation ??? How much time is devoted by the organsiation to 'hating' the apostates, making mention of them in books, magazines, leaflets, at meetings, at assemblies ? Aren't they surely in the same league of 'united by hatred'??

The big D can you help??

i haven't been to the hall in quite some time even though all my family are still in and i see some of the witnesses from time to time.

i am not disfellowshipped and don't intend to be as i don't see why they should have the right to stop me talking to my folks.

however one of my friends has just had the big d and is now regretting it.

Hi brutusmaximus,

I feel for your friend - I was in the same situation 12 years ago - brought up a witness with only 2 outside friends, then DF'd and on my own. From my experience, my advice to your friend would be to not waste time trying to regain false friendships. Get out there, make new friends with people who accept him for who he is, not what cult he belongs to.

As regards his family, they are still able to associate with him, but it will depend upon how 'level headed' they are... my friends folks are zealots and would have nothing to do with him, so as not to 'stumble' any other witnesses. What a crock of (bull)sh*t

Life just gets wierder

my daughter called me today and said "mom....i went to the watchtower.org website and clicked on 'i wanna start a bible study'.

shortly thereafter, sister sweetiepie calls on my daughter and sets up a weekly study and leaves her with wt mags.. not even an hour has passed and my daughter is shopping and another sister, "sister blabbermouth" spots her and says, "i heard the good news" gives her more magazines (she's just found a place to dump more mags) and then asks her, "why didnt you ask your mom for a study?

Gotta say I don't envy you at the minute CLV... sounds like a nightmare scenario.

I wonder if most ex-dubs have ever contemplated going back at some point... I did, but fortunately got more than I bargained for when I asked LittleToe if he could conduct a bible study with me over the net!! LOL!! (This was before I knew he was engineering his own escape!)

I hope you can feed her enough information to let her make an 'educated' decision.....!!

Do you let spiders live in your home?

i have one or two little spiders that i noticed living in my home... but i don't get rid of them hoping that they will keep the other bugs out.. does anyone else do this?.

I think thats the crunch - she doesn't want to get over it... she won't look at pictures, films, live ones, dead ones... even a skin from a tarantula gets her running!!

Guess the 'Spider Removal' service is pennance for my sins!!

I refuse to kill them though... which can lead to some funny antics trying to catch the fast little buggers!!!!

Do you let spiders live in your home?

I like spiders, and have no problems with them being in the house. My wife and daughter on the other hand hate them with a passion, and have VERY extreme reactions to them.

It's a bit of a pain when your miles away from home, with your wife in hysterics because she's just spotted a spider over the doorway so she's trapped in the room!!! She has even been known to call the local pizza delivery service to ask them to remove spiders (before we got together..)

I don't understand this fear / loathing of them... neither does my wife or little one for that matter, and they know it's completely irrational!!!

Humans, eh!!!!

ran over a hedgehog tonight, i wasnt driving but i coulda saved it but i waited too long to tell the driver that the hedgehog was walking towards the car, i saw it, they didnt see it because they were talking and i waited for them to finish their sentence before interupting, then bump, i looked back and saw blood and guts, how stoooooooooopid am i. i was just about to say "watchout hedgehog in road" but hesitated so that the person could finish their sentence...silly fck am i.. .

I ran over a rabbit when I was a mere slip of a lad at 19... It upset me so much I had to stop the car until I calmed down.

The following day I was visiting my in-(out)laws who had just come back of holiday and bought me a present..... a little muumy rabbit and 2 baby rabbit ornaments!!! God, did I feel bad :(

The worst one I ever saw was a cat ran over by a garbage van - completely flattened this poor critter into the road, but missed it's tail, which was still swishing and twitching! Eeeeuuugh!

I always had loads of grief of my folks about listening to Metal... although they were avid viewers of soap opera's (another 'no - no' as mentioned at district / circuit assemblies). Strange how it's always easy to see the straw in someone elses eye......

The strongest objections I ever got from the congregation MS's was over the Monsters of Rock concert - a group of us got tickets to go see the first ever Monsters of Rock open air concert at Donington, and a 'rocking pioneer' was going to take us. We had gotten mild counselling and remarks from certain 'puritans', but we were still going. Then 2 days before the concert, the lad who was taking us was threatened with having all his congregational 'priveleges' stopped if he took us to the gig, plus he'd be removed as a pioneer. As he was the only one of us who was old enough to drive, needless to say, we never got there!! Bast*rds!

Should Saddam Be Executed If Found Guilty?

there is only so far you can go in inflicting just punishment upon an evil person.

yet how evil is someone who has murdered one person in cold blood, compared to someone who is guilty of genocide?

the crime of murder is heinous in itself, but does the fact that someone may be responsible for millions of deaths make the crime of multiple murder a million times worse than the person who kills only once?

My opinion - I think he should be terminated. Why pay to house, feed and clothe a creature such as this, when we can't feed and clothe everyone in our own countries, or third world countries?!! I say creature, because I don't rate him any higher than a cockroach, which I would have no qualms in crushing underfoot.

As regards governments not having the authority to terminate life - why not ?? Isn't death, or the threat of it, the ultimate authority ??
